Latin Rock Exchange is Portland’s own ten-piece band playing classic hits from Santana to Pink Martini, War to Buena Vista Social Club, Henri Mancini to Sergio Mendes, Sade to Bublé, Los Lobos, Barrabas, Matt Bianco, Yesca and many other dance songs every generation can enjoy.
The band members’ heritage stretches from The Caribbean, Latin America, Africa, UK, and the US, spanning five decades in age, all now making Portland their home.
Two years in development by twice Grammy-nominated drummer and designer, Mark Giles (Brothers of the Baladi 2008), the band is aiming to perform for community events like the PDX and Vancouver waterfront festivals, Parks and Recreation music series, jazz, RnB, and world music concerts, farmers markets and street parties, as well the resort, casino, vineyard and private event circuit.
The band has played at The Alberta Abbey, Atlantis Lounge, The White Eagle, Alberta Street pub, The Adelante Farmers market and Dishman Community Center. Now, with a much more experienced troupe of professionals, the new line-up of the band is finally ready to take on higher profile opportunities and venues.
Latin Rock Exchange includes the following members: Alana McKenzie on lead vocals, James Ortega on guitar, Wydglif Dorlus on keyboards, Jeff Burres on congas, Ron V on additional percussion, Mark Giles on drums, Jake Koprowski on bass.
