~Las Añez in Concert & Short Film Screening of Zenú by Claudio Marcotulli
In partnership with Miami Dade County Auditorium this year’s Climakaze Miami will feature the U.S. premiere of Las Áñez from Colombia, a techno-virtuosa sound reckoning of ancestral and futuristic Latin American themes. Las Áñez’s combination of folklore and contemporary music has captivated and beguiled audiences across South America and Europe.
On stage, these twin sisters bewitch listeners with their resonant medium, creating a hypnotic sound ritual. Unique percussion accompanies the natural and versatile style of this minimalist vocal duet from Colombia with traditional instruments, keyboard, and a loop station.
Saturday evening will kick off with short film screening of Zenú by Claudio Marcotulli (20 minutes), featuring appearances by a crowd of celebrated Miami artists. Filmed in large part from a canoe on and along Miami’s Little River, Zenú takes viewers on an artist’s surreal journey to find his muse in a world of interrupted wilderness and shamanic dreams.
This compact magical realist film is filled with lush ritual and ludicrous performance, which stir up surprising humannature relationships and uncork anxieties about creative destinies.
(Both film and concert on April 21st at 8:00 p.m. at On.Stage Black Box at The Miami Dade County Auditorium)
