    Lakim

    Club Dance

Hailing from Lynchburg, Virginia, LAKIM has steadily made a name for himself in the electronic scene. Bridging the gap between dance and hip-hop with style and finesse, his sound is an ever-shifting blend of crisp drum patterns, dreamy synths, and lush vocal chops. LAKIM really started to make waves in 2012, when his stellar remixing skills caught the attention of renowned forward-thinking beat collective, Soulection. He is well known for his EP, Esoteric, which he released in 2012 as Soulection’s 15th project. Following its release, Soulection wrote that the EP “not only displays his growth as an artist, but also implements his signature style of chopping dusty soul records into the undeniable form of Bass music that has been dominating the world’s sound of tomorrow.”

Since then, he has continued to expand and evolve his style over multiple featured releases with the label and successful collaborations with fellow Soulection artists like Mr. Carmack and Esta. He’s turned a song into a movement, been the focus of the first Soulection White Label, and stayed on the tips of tongues with his remixes of popular artists and upcoming producers. Since the release of his first full-length album, This is Her, in 2014, LAKIM has released several new DJ sets and remixes, including his remix of Janet Jackson’s “BURNITUP!” featuring Missy Elliot and Banks’ official remix to her 2016 single, “Fuck with Myself.” He has also further developed his production credits, including Cousin Stizz’s “Reup and Bake” from his mixtape, Monda. LAKIM brings a truly unique sound to the table and his energetic live performance is not one to be missed.

Jay Roberts, aka j.robb, has always had a love of music, a lot of which he inherited from his music producer father.

Hailing from Baltimore, MD, j.robb discovered FL Studio 9 in 2011 where he began developing his skills in music.

Having moved around from New York, New Jersey and Georgia to Florida and back to Maryland, j.robb’s contacts book is wide and varied.

Despite attending Frostburg State, the songwriter eventually left to pursue music full-time where he now plays a number of instrument including keys.

Although he confesses struggling with self-doubt when comparing himself to his peers, j.robb is determined to succeed and continues to be motivated to achieve his dreams.

j.robb’s single, Euphoria (soundcloud.com/skvtr/skater-x-jrobb-euphoria) with Skater from Vancouver has brought him a wealth of attention in the consumer and industry scenes.

The musician’s Soundcloud presence alone has garnered him over 200,000,000+ listens and has already been featured on outlets such as BBC1xtra, Soulection, Beats1 Radio, Vice, Earmilk, Nest HQ and more.

Describing his music as “undefinable”, j.robb accepts that his sound will most appeal to lovers of RnB.

Influenced by artists who exude high octane energy in their live performances, j.robb looks up to everyone from J.Dilla and Madlib to Pharrell Williams.

On describing the subject matter for his work, j.robb revealed most of his collaborations end up in love songs and confessed: “I guess I’m a sucker for love or something. Love always gives you something to talk about because it’s a crazy thing that everyone has experienced.”

And although he hasn’t had a full blown tour as yet, j.robb has performed in many cities across the US.

Currently working on his debut album, j.robb’s first single Still Got It was released recently and is already achieving critical acclaim (www.soundcloud.com/fetedela/jrobb-still-got-it).
Opinionated, straight talking and determined, J.Robb isn’t afraid to speak his mind and stand up for himself.

Meanwhile, he’s preparing for his latest project which will release in Spring 2017 and working on booking more shows and travelling. With the dream being major production placements or film soundtracks, the sky’s the limit for j.robb.
