Kinga Głyk has recently released her fifth original album, Real Life. A bassist and composer known for her unmistakable funk-driven sound, she stands out as one of the most moving and expressive personalities of modern jazz. Blending improvisation with contemporary electronic grooves, she performs internationally, captivating audiences across multiple continents.
Real Life was co-produced by Michael League, founder of Snarky Puppy, and features an impressive lineup of musicians including Robert “Sput” Searight, Casey Benjamin, Brett Williams, Nicholas Semrad, Julian Pollack, Celeb Sean McCambell, and Grégoire Maret. The album was released under the renowned Warner Music Group, marking an important milestone in her artistic journey.
Kinga’s rise has been recognized by the international music community. In 2021, she received a nomination in the “String Instruments International” category from Deutscher JAZZ PRESS, alongside artists such as Christian McBride and Wolfgang Muthspiel. She also received the prestigious Koryfeusz of Polish Music award. In 2020, she won the Grand Prix in the “New Hope of Polish Jazz Melomani 2019” category.
Her previous album, Feelings, gained strong recognition – its music video for “Joy Joy” has surpassed 1 million views on YouTube. Produced by Paweł Tomaszewski, the record features exceptional musicians such as Calvin Rodgers, Brett Williams, Anomalie, Bobby Sparks II, Mateus Asato, Ruth Waldron, Joachim Mencel, and Sławomir Berny.
Kinga has performed extensively around the world, including in Poland, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Portugal, Spain, Italy, France, Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Ukraine, Norway, Sweden, Estonia, Denmark, England, Brazil, Argentina, China, Japan, Korea, Indonesia, and many others. In 2017, she shared the stage with Marcus Miller at the Leverkusen Festival – an unforgettable moment in her career. That same year, she released her album Dream, featuring Tim Garland, Greg Hutchinson, and Nitai Herskovits, which earned a place on the Jazz Hits in Germany charts.
In 2018, she received a nomination for the ECHO Jazz Award. Earlier, in 2016, her bass arrangement of Eric Clapton’s “Tears in Heaven” went viral after being shared by Bass Player United, amassing over 20 million views and bringing her worldwide recognition.
Kinga’s musical story began at the age of 12, when she joined her family ensemble, the Głyk P.I.K. Trio, gaining valuable stage experience at an early age. In 2015, at just 18, she released her debut album Rejestracja, which was praised by Polish Radio Trójka and publications such as Jazz Forum and Your Blues. She quickly gained recognition in polls including JAZZ TOP and BLUES TOP, receiving nominations in categories such as New Hope, Bass Guitar, and Discovery of the Year. Following her debut, she recorded the live album Happy Birthday, marking the beginning of a beautiful musical adventure that continues to unfold.
