Kid Charlemagne was founded in 2025 by a collective of top-tier musicians from Philadelphia and South Jersey, united by a shared obsession with the sophisticated grooves, sharp lyrics, and timeless songwriting of Steely Dan. The band’s members bring decades of professional experience, having performed and recorded with an extraordinary roster of legendary artists including Billy Paul, Freddie Jackson, Irene Cara, The Delfonics, Boyz II Men, Gladys Knight & The Pips, Russell Thompkins Jr. & The New Stylistics, Harold Melvin & The Blue Notes, The O’Jays, Teddy Pendergrass, Phyllis Hyman, Patti LaBelle, and The Temptations. Their collective resumé also includes performances in multiple Broadway productions such as Hair, Fame, Tommy and Rent.
