Fronted by husband and wife duo Kim West (keys and vocals) and Ryan Devlin (guitar and vocals,) Smokey Brights is a rock band out of Seattle, Washington. The couple’s entrancing bond shines through in their deeply personal cowriting as well as their ecstatic live performances. West, a barred attorney, and Devlin, who has a background in booking, publishing and punk bands, met working summers at a pizza restaurant in college. They write about their transition from young friends to life partners in their beloved city, touring in a van during the Northwest’s notoriously grey winters, and being in love in a deeply uncertain world. West and Devlin’s songs are made eminently danceable by Nick Krivchenia (drums) and Luke Logan (bass.) Krivchenia, an Ohio native from a family of musicians, brings a soulful, classic groove to Smokeys’ sound. Logan, who grew up singing folk songs with his family in Kodiak, Alaska, provides melodic bass lines and a crucial third harmony to the band’s vocals. Known for their explosive live shows that immerse the listener in warm, harmony rich, arena rock anthems.

La Fonda is an indie rock band fronted by Filipino-American sisters, Valerie and Veronica Topacio. Centering their songs around themes of sisterhood and navigating the chaos of adolescence, addiction, xenophobia, and gentrification––to name a few––La Fonda creates sonically atmospheric, shoegaze-inspired tracks falling somewhere between dream-pop and alt-rock.
Their sophomore album We Are Infinite dives heart-first into the emotional depths of their journey so far and explores the struggles of living paycheck-to-paycheck in their hometown of Seattle. Valerie and Veronica are joined by guitarist Jesse Cole, bassist Bryan Dever, and drummer Jacob Whinihan to round out their dreamy indie rock sound. Their debut album, New Self, Old Ways, landed early 2021 and since, the band has opened for a myriad of artists like Snail Mail and Alvvays.
The summer of 2015 found Veronica and Valerie writing songs and busking at Pike Place Market, after growing up in a musical family where singing in the living room was a regular affair. Magic blossomed when they connected with guitarist Jesse Cole, a friend from their past, whose guitar style mixed seamlessly with their harmonies. The Sisters then met bass player Bryan Dever who instantly recognized the importance of their friendship and talent. Shortly after, Bryan’s boyhood pal Patrick Hodge blessed the ensemble by joining on the Keys. As with many budding groups, the throne behind the drums saw several friends come and go. It wasn’t until after three years in that fate and proximity would lead them to Jacob Whinihan (Special Explosion) as their percussionist, joining the band in the spring of 2019 before launching on a month-long tour down the west coast to SxSW.
Since the lineup met it’s completion, fires of inspiration and love have erupted among them, fueling their light on stage and in the studio. Having just completed their debut album due out in 2021, and cemented in comradery, La Fonda looks to their music as a compass to help guide themselves and their fans. It’s their hope that their story-telling surrounding the themes of love and friendship inspire their collective of listeners to fight through moments of compounding disarray, transition and struggle by showing up as our strongest, most authentic, and truest selves.
