Kate Kooser & Rick Z: A Tribute to Guy Clark, The Songwriter's Songwriter

Drinking jug redwine and, sometimes, a little Hemingway's whiskey in a crowded kitchen in West End Nashville sat the likes of Townes Van Zandt, Steve Earle, Rodney Crowell and James McMurtry swapping songs and stories with Guy Clark. Guy has been dubbed "The Songwriter's Songwriter." If you wanted an honest opinion about how good (or bad) your song was, all you had to do was play it for Guy. He'd tell you true.
Guy Clark's influence reached beyond Nashville, extending into Northeast Ohio and helping to shape the music of songwriters like Kate Kooser and Rick Z. Both Kate's and Rick's songwriting is heavily influenced by Texas songwriters as well as other contemporary folk artists.
In addition to playing throughout Northeast Ohio, Kate has performed regionally. Following her passion for harmony, Kate has had the pleasure of backing up Kenny Loggins, Terence Blanchard, Catie Curtis, Charlie Mosbroo, Laura Webster, GS Harper and more. You can find Kate's EP "A Little More" on SoundCloud.
Like Kate, Rick has performed throughout Northeast Ohio. His personal highpoint was playing a Writers' Night at Nashville's Blue Bird Cafe. Rick's CDs "Porch Songs," "Sunrise," and "Third Table," can be found on Apple Music and Spotify. For over 10 years, Rick has hosted Songwriter Block, a traditional songwriter round, in various venues throughout Cleveland to give songwriters a platform from which to share their music.
Join Kate and Rick as they play homage to the late great Guy Clark.
