A timeless enchantress, Sampson combines a 70s folk-rock aesthetic and sound, which draws on a California country and classic Laurel Canyon, quickly garnered flattering comparisons to giants such as Nicks, Ronstadt and Bonnie Raitt as well as cult heroes such as Barbara Keith, Jim Croce and Bobbie Gentry.
Sampson is not afraid to wear her heart on her sleeve and her unique and interesting life shines through her beautifully crafted songwriting and though her super sonic vocal powers that could shake the walls of an opera house. Her ability to embrace her own vulnerability and perseverance is more than apparent on her recent UK single ‘Long Way Back’ – no doubt drawing on life experiences including finding sobriety after a number of troubled years in Las Vegas and Los Angeles, and her years balancing a demanding cruise ship singing career with dreams of becoming a professional singer-songwriter.
Like many before her, the modern starlet put everything in her rear view mirror in 2015, when on a whim, she found herself driving to Nashville with no solid plan other than wanting to record her songs in Nashville. Initially she struggled, and found working multiple side jobs including a local greasy spoon to make ends meet. Finally her dreams came true when she saved enough money from bartending to cut her debut record, ‘Wild Heart’ at The Bomb Shelter in East Nashville with top Nashville based players including Jon Estes co-producing as well as playing bass, Jeremy Fetzer on guitar, and Jon Radford on drums. Despite its selfrelease, the record was a cult hit last year in the USA and was heaped with praise from esteemed media including Rolling Stone, who compared her to her hero, Stevie Nicks.
Reflecting on her success Kashena looks back on the experiences that forged her honest song writing and taught her persistence and to never give up on her dreams.
“I was drinking and doing a lot of drugs when I was younger, that was my main focus. I partied hard and ended up getting sober at 21, since then I have turned my focus and energy towards my music."

India Ramey blazes a trail through cinematic spaghetti western landscapes to wood floored Honkytonks and the Appalachian foothills. India’s musical journey was not typical. “Having grown up poor, there was a lot of pressure for me to ‘go to college and make money’ so I convinced myself that music was a hobby”. Ramey, a domestic violence survivor got a law degree and became a domestic violence prosecutor. “I thought if I was helping people like my Mom, I would like being a lawyer more”. Despite her love of helping people, Ramey’s love for music won in the end. She gave up her law career to become a full time musician and songwriter and has never looked back.
Since then Ramey has put out five studio albums. Her 2017 album, and first national release, Snake Handler landed her on Rolling Stone's 10 New Country Artists You Need To Know list and earned her praise and attentions from American Songwriter, The Bluegrass Situation among others . Her 2020 album Shallow Graves earned her even more recognition from the likes of Ralph McClean of the BBC who said "Ramey is a singer of the truth. Long may she shine" and Rolling Stone who named her a pick of the week and featured a full interview and review calling her "Part honky-tonk, part Black Sabbath". She has been a two time SXSW and a three time Americanafest showcasing artist and recently released her fifth studio album, Baptized By The Blaze produced by Luke Wooten (The SteelDrivers, Sunny Sweeney, Deirks Bentley, Brad Paisley).
Released in August 2024, Baptized By The Blaze has taken off and is proving to be India's most successful album yet receiving high praise from Saving Country Music, No Depression, The Bluegrass Situation and many many more. She is touring extensively and has had the pleasure of opening for rising Outlaw Country and Americana star, Corb Lund and Grammy-nominated Maggie Rose. Ramey will start off her 2025 in the line-up of the Sirius XM Outlaw Country Cruise and has summer and fall tour dates filling up her calendar including support slots for Silverada, The Vandoliers and River Shook.
