Recorded in New Orleans and featuring her dynamic ensemble The Gentlemen Callers, the J.O. Big Band, and special guests like Davell Crawford, Joe Bonamassa, and the Tonya Boyd-Cannon Choir, the album is a bold celebration of jazz, blues, and big band energy. With her signature mix of power, elegance, and personality, Owen transforms classic repertoire and original material into something entirely her own.
From sultry interpretations of songs made famous by Aretha Franklin and Etta James to vibrant new arrangements and standout collaborations, this performance captures the full Judith Owen experience. Judith Owen is a genre-defying singer, songwriter, and storyteller whose music spans jazz, blues, big band, rock, pop, classical music, and musical theatre. Known for her wildly charismatic live performances - part concert, part theatre - she creates shows she affectionately calls “mini-musicals,” where humour, heart and fearless musicianship collide.
Born into a deeply musical Welsh family and raised in London, Judith grew up surrounded by opera, classical music, jazz, Broadway, and blues. Weekends spent backstage at the Royal Opera House, where her father sang, shaped her dramatic instincts, while teaching herself piano by ear became both refuge and creative release. A pivotal performance at drama school revealed her musical calling - a moment she describes as the turning point that changed everything.
Now fifteen albums into an internationally acclaimed career, Judith has reached millions worldwide. Her 2022 breakout album Come On & Get It - hailed by The Times as “one of the most joyous releases of the year” - launched a new era of swagger, joy and unapologetic front-woman energy. That journey continued with the live album Judith Owen Comes Alive, recorded at Marians Jazzroom, and the big-band celebration Judith Owen Swings Christmas.
Her latest album, Suit Yourself, is the full Judith Owen experience - blending big band fire, jazz sensuality, blues grit and emotionally intoxicating songwriting into a bold, joyful statement of confidence, freedom and female power.
Judith Owen is co-creator and co-host of the annual Christmas Without Tears charity variety show with her husband Harry Shearer, which has featured guests including Stephen Merchant, Tim Minchin, and Catherine O’Hara.
