Music
Driven by a purpose that transcends beyond entertainment, Jonathan Lee is fueled by two North Stars: his son and his craft.
Placing sole concentration on raising his son, Lee paused his music career stepping away from the studio and the stage. Now, nearly a decade later, the proud father of a college freshman is walking back into the limelight with relentless determination and unstoppable commitment.
At the core of Jonathan’s artistry is a deep, instinctive love for songwriting and performance. His music is driven by emotion and intention — moments lived and miles traveled form the heartbeat of his storylines. Grounded in authentic recollections fueled by a magnetic verve, his songs offer a raw honesty that goes beyond the surface. Lyrics lean into real life and working-class realities, hard luck stories, survival and free-spirited romanticisms with a sense of maturity.
Expertly blending the raw energy of outlaw country and Southern rock with soulful rhythm and blues, Lee's music is quintessential California country rock. Nashville instrumentation melds smoothly with artistic vibes of the LA music scene, aka the place he calls home. Gritty production and rock-influenced aesthetics mirror the fatalism and toughness in his music and the dusty reality of the 101. High-octane performances are enlivened by an arresting, unapologetic, rock-and-roll ethos, anchored by his evocative and gravelly vocal performance.
Jonathan’s passion for life is palpable in every performance. There’s an effervescence to his presence, an energy that feels both intimate and expansive, inviting to listeners and gripping to showgoers. Injecting nuances from some of his musical heroes (vintage Marvin Gaye, Willie Nelson, the Rolling Stones, The Doors, Led Zeppelin and the more contemporary, Chris Stapleton and Eric Church) on stage or in the studio, his unmistakable sincerity is a captivating connection; his performances linger long after the last note fades.
More than just a music entertainer, Jonathan Lee is a storyteller in motion — evolving, chasing inspiration and turning lived-in experiences into music that moves you.
A movement that is his ultimate destiny.
