Jonas Friddle and his band celebrates the completion of “When the Water was the Sky.”
Seven years in the making, the new album blends original and traditional songs
seamlessly while featuring unusual rhythms and Jonas’ unmistakable lyricism. The
John Lennon Award winning songwriter is one of the few writers delivering their songs
with the clawhammer banjo front and center. The result is a sound grounded in roots
music with words that New City Music called “lyrical miracles.” The band features
Chicago greats, Anna Jacobson, Andrew Wilkins, and Gerald Dowd for a night not to be
