    Soul

Jon Vinyl is a 25-year-old artist from Toronto whose keen sense of emotion has given his listeners the ability to tap into their nostalgic moments of love through a sound that has an air of sophistication and vulnerability. Production of strummed guitar chords and waving synths fall into a soft spot between R&B and Soul, which lay the perfect framework for Vinyl’s open and honest accounts of his own run-ins with love.

His work has garnered the attention of OVO Radio, along with the upper echelon of the industry like Billboard, Noisey, BBC 1Xtra, MTV, and Ebro Darden of Beats 1 and Apple Music. Jon's ability to translate his personal emotions into a widespread commonality amongst his listeners will unequivocally scale into even more impactful song writing.

    BIO

Out of the small town of Timmins, Ontario, Juno Award winner Preston Pablo has had a meteoric rise in the last year alone, cultivating a big sound uplifted by soulful spirit and uncontainable charisma. After racking up nearly 20 million streams independently, he signed to 31 East/Universal Music Canada and immediately began making big waves. In April 2022 Preston released “Flowers Need Rain” featuring Banx & Ranx, a personal song about his love for music. Landing the #1 spot on the Shazam Chart in Canada, achieving quadruple platinum status, and reaching the #1 spot at Mainstream AC radio in Canada, “Flowers Need Rain” showcases Preston’s further emergence in popular music. The track sat in multiple global Viral Top 50 Spotify playlists (such as Germany, South Africa, Australia, New Zealand and more), showcasing Preston’s rising popularity and audience recognition around the world and won the SOCAN Award for most popular Anglophone song of the year.

“Watching the growth of ‘Flowers Need Rain’ has been incredibly exciting and fulfilling as an artist and as a person,” comments Preston. “This song has given me so many opportunities and I’m so grateful that people have loved the song as much as I do. It was originally written in my bedroom, and now it has taken on a life of its own, far beyond what I could’ve ever imagined.”.

Preston continues to release singles including the R&B inspired, “Love You Bad”, gritty pop track “AY AY AY”, and summer smash, “For Keeps” which landed itself in the top 10 at Hot AC Canada and continues to rise. With much more to come in 2023, Preston received the Breakthrough Artist of The Year Award at the 2023 JUNO Awards where he took the stage at the broadcast and performed “Flowers Need Rain” on stage with fellow 31 East talent, Banx & Ranx and Rêve. Shortly after the win and massive performance, Preston continued to check off his live show achievements with his first ever headline show at The Drake Underground in Toronto which sold out in less than 72 hours.

The summer of 2023 continued to amp up for Preston, as he played festivals across Canada, notably at the world renowned Osheaga and closing out the summer as an opener for NF’s Canadian tour. He teamed up with Karan Aujla and Ikky to feature on the track “Admirin’ You” which has racked up 48 million streams and counting. He followed this up by releasing “Believe,” co-written by Rico Love [Usher, Beyonce] continuing to showcase his R&B vocals and tonality. The track has a warm, dark, and moody sound that shows his growth and transition from young pop into mature R&B. His latest track “Dance Alone” garnered a lot of traction on TikTok after releasing a 30 second teaser. The song ignites an old school dance tone that resonates globally.

“I grew up very differently from most artists in today’s age,” he observes. “I’m from a really small town. We didn’t have any resources to film videos or do concerts. My music is raw, because I was so isolated. It came from an organic place. There aren’t any gimmicks around it. I try to keep it as honest as possible, so you can connect.”

During senior year of high school, Preston unveiled his debut solo single “OMO.” Right out of the gate, it eclipsed 648K Spotify streams. He continued to gain traction with a series of releases. Tapped for the compilation Bangers Only, Vol. 1, he linked up with fawlin and Chill Only for “Circles” [7.1 million Spotify streams] and SauceOnly and Zeegs for “When We Were Kids,” which racked up over 10 million Spotify streams. His 2020 single “One Sided” amassed 2.1 million Spotify streams as he joined forces with pablø, Preston’s brother, for “She Tried It,” “Control,” and “Ideas.”

“My brother was very influential to me becoming an artist,” he notes. “He motivated and pushed me to make music in the early stages. He started this whole journey. Since our town is small, he was my mentor at first. He was making music in his room 20 feet away. When I would make music, he was the first one I showed it to. If it had his approval, I didn’t care what anyone else thought. I always looked up to him. If it wasn’t for him, I probably wouldn’t be doing this at all.”

Preston signed to 31 East/Universal Music Canada in 2021 as he honed what he describes as a “modern vintage” style. “It’s a blend of pop and R&B with a different twist, but I’m keeping all of the doors open,” he states. “My favourite way to write songs is with piano or guitar. It starts from the classic side with instruments and evolves from there.”

This evolution began with his first  2022 single “Don’t Break (My Soul).” Produced by Banx & Ranx [Dua Lipa, BLACKPINK, Nicky Jam], cinematic piano underscores vulnerable verses as his voice cracks with palpable emotion. It gives way to a swooning refrain over lush synths.

Ultimately, Preston creates from the realest place possible. “My music comes from a real place,” he says. “I’m not trying to be someone I’m not. I’m trying to be the truest version of me. The emotion you hear is what I felt at the time. Through my music, you’ll get to know me.”

    BOILER

Preston Pablo had a banner year in 2023. Since signing with 31 East/Universal Music Canada in 2021, he has had rising chart success with his major label debut “Flowers Need Rain” with multi-platinum producer-songwriters Banx & Ranx. The quadruple platinum-selling single currently has over 50M global streams and has reached a Top 5 spot at Top 40 and Top 10 at Hot AC and Mainstream AC. Preston’s success continued, winning the Breakthrough Artist of the Year award at the 2023 Juno Awards, continued on a cross Canada tour supporting NF all while releasing "AY AY AY",  "For Keeps", "Believe" and featured on the global Punjabi hit "Admirin' You" with Karan Aujla and Ikky garnering new audiences around the world. Preston looks to continue growing his global fanbase in 2024 with his newest smash single, “Dance Alone”.
