Just some of the words critics have used to describe “Stop Time,” the latest album by singer, songwriter and pianist Jon Regen.   A protégé of the legendary pianist Kenny Barron, Jon Regen began his career as a sideman to jazz artists like Kyle Eastwood and Little Jimmy Scott. After releasing a series of instrumental jazz recordings, Regen made an abrupt left turn with the acclaimed singer/songwriter albums “Almost Home,” “Let It Go” and “Revolution,” featuring contributions from artists like Andy Summers of the Police and Benmont Tench from Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers. Regen’s latest release “Stop Time” was produced by Mitchell Froom (Crowded House, Paul McCartney), and features Davey Faragher and Pete Thomas from Elvis Costello and the Imposters.   Jon Regen’s new album for Ropeadope Records is due out later in 2019.
