Description
Jon Batiste is an eight-time Grammy and Academy Award–winning singer, songwriter, and composer, born and raised in New Orleans, where his deep musical roots continue to shape his sound and cultural impact. A member of the renowned Batiste musical family, he blends jazz, gospel, R&B, and soul in a way that reflects the city’s rich traditions while pushing them forward on a global stage. He has been performing at the legendary Snug Harbor Jazz Bistro since his teenage years, a testament to his deep ties to the city’s live music tradition. His ninth studio album, BIG MONEY (released August 22 via Verve/Interscope), draws from gospel, soul, blues, folk, and rock & roll, and features collaborators including No I.D., Randy Newman, and Andra Day. The album earned three 2026 GRAMMY® nominations and won Best Americana Album, capping a national headlining tour with more than 30 stops, including Red Rocks Amphitheatre and the Grand Ole Opry.
Batiste’s influence extends beyond performance, as he remains a cultural ambassador for New Orleans, championing its musical heritage through education, community engagement, and high-profile appearances. The project follows a landmark stretch that includes his Super Bowl performance and the success of Beethoven Blues, which debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Classical Albums chart. His 2023 album World Music Radio earned five Grammy nominations, while 2021’s We Are won Album of the Year among its five Grammys. His personal and professional journey during this period is chronicled in the 2024 Netflix documentary American Symphony, featuring the Oscar-nominated song “It Never Went Away.” Batiste also won an Academy Award for Soul and served as bandleader on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert for seven years.
