John Ellis & Double-Wide bring their signature blend of New Orleans groove, modern jazz, and funk-infused swagger to the stage with the release of Fireball. Led by Ellis—an acclaimed saxophonist, composer, and longtime collaborator with artists across the jazz and Americana spectrum—Double-Wide is known for its electrifying chemistry, adventurous improvisation, and deeply rooted rhythmic feel. The band fuses second-line energy, greasy backbeats, and sophisticated harmonies into a sound that is both forward-thinking and unmistakably grounded in the Crescent City tradition.   For this performance, we celebrate the release of John Ellis' latest project, Fireball.   The work showcases Ellis’s sharp compositional voice alongside the band’s dynamic interplay and fearless exploration. From simmering grooves to explosive solos, the record highlights Double-Wide’s ability to balance precision with raw spontaneity, making a bold statement from one of New Orleans’ most inventive contemporary ensembles. However, we encourage you to arrive at least 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for your ticketed showtime.
