John Ellis is an acclaimed saxophonist, composer, and bandleader known for his rich tone, imaginative compositions, and dynamic stage presence. A native of North Carolina and a longtime presence in the New Orleans and New York jazz scenes, Ellis has worked with an array of celebrated artists, including John Scofield, Dr. Lonnie Smith, and Darcy James Argue. His own ensembles, such as Double-Wide, blend jazz with New Orleans grooves, gospel, and Americana, creating a sound that is uniquely his own.
Ellis has released over a dozen albums as a leader, earning widespread acclaim and multiple ASCAP Jazz Composer Awards for his innovative compositions. A frequent collaborator and performer at renowned festivals and venues worldwide, Ellis brings a deep connection to tradition while pushing the boundaries of contemporary jazz.

Kind Reminder: Snug Harbor does NOT serve the full menu inside the Music Room. We do offer cheese and charcuterie tray options. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts, only the charcuterie, cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room. However, we encourage you to arrive at least 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for your ticketed showtime.
