Originally from the UK, John was educated at the Chethams School of
Music in Manchester and the Royal College in London.
Arriving in the US in 1981, he left his classical roots behind and whilst studying
with jazz greats such as Freddie Hubbard, Bobby Shew, and Hal Crook,
embarked on a career as a jazz trumpet player, arranger and band leader.
John is probably best known as the leader of the John Allmark Jazz Orchestra.
A group he led for over 30 years, and that performed with many great jazz artists
such as Nick Brignola, Randy Brecker, Claudio Roditi, Wycliffe Gordon, Grover
Washington Jr, Bobby Shew and many more.
John has performed throughout Europe, South America, Russia, and throughout
the United States.For almost 40 years, John has been playing alongside friend and saxophonist Dino Govoni. The Quintet is the culmination of that special musical friendship,and currently, the group is planning its first recording.
Dino learned from two of Boston’s tenor sax greats, Jerry Bergonzi and
George Garzone, and furthered his studies by attending Berklee
College of Music, studying with the late great Joe Viola.
Dino has played and/or recording with such diverse artists as Grover
Washington, Jr., Randy Brecker, Nick Brignola, Claudio Roditi, Queen
Latifah, Ben Folds, Melinda Doolittle, Terence Trent D'Arby, Robben
Ford, Mel Tormé, the Manhattan Transfer, the Tommy Dorsey Orchestra,
Frankie Valli, among others.
Dino is a regular guest soloist with the Boston Pops.
All GA sections (Main Floor GA & Miles Davis Mezzanine) will be seated by host and are first come, first served (other than where a reserved sign is posted to table). If you require special seating, please call the venue for accommodations no later than 48 hours prior to show date.

Our new pre-show reception, "Mix, Mingle and Groove," offered before the 7pm show, includes a variety of appetizers, carving board and an assortment of desserts. Mix, Mingle and Groove reception is from 5:15pm until 6:30pm on show nights only, in the Boathouse 400 restaurant, on the 2nd floor of the hotel. $60 includes all of the above, plus 18% gratuity, state and local taxes and validated parking while enjoying the reception and show.
If you purchase the "pre-show reception" with your tickets, the pre-show reception is in the Boathouse 400 restaurant from 5:15pm to 6:30pm. The Boathouse 400 restaurant is on the 2nd floor of the hotel and Scullers Jazz Club is on the lobby level of the hotel.
