ARLINGTON IMPROV is located in the Highlands Shopping Center, across from Torchy’s Tacos. We are an intimate venue with a full bar & restaurant, where you can enjoy performances of world renowned and local comics alike. We are also the host of Black Dog Pizza Arcade- a full scale, free play, retro arcade featuring more than 30 local craft beers & fun for the whole family.

Joe Torry is one of the most memorable comedians on HBO's Def Comedy Jam. After 35 years in Hollywood, he continues to make people laugh on stage and at the box office. Torry has carved a solid niche for himself with his unique comedy style. He doesn't pre-rehearse his scripts. He uses the audience's energy to unleash his raw and unfiltered comedic style.
In 2006, Torry was inducted into the Hall of Fame alongside legends such as Richard Pryor, Geroge Carlin, and Jerry Lewis. In 2017, Torry received the Robin Harris Legend Honor award at the LOL Comedy Honors. His Alma Mater also honored him for his community service and inducted him into the Hall of Fame and National HBCU Alumni Hall of Fame.
Torry has starred in many box office hits, including House Party 1 & 3 with Martin Lawrence, Strictly Business alongside Halle Berry, Tales from the Hood, Motive 1 & 2, Mansfield 12, Sprung starring Tisha Campbell, and his most notable role in John Singleton's Poetic Justice, which starred Regina King, Janet Jackson, and Tupac Shakur. Torry's rich history includes television shows such as "E.R.," "NYPD Blue," "Dangerous Minds," and "Navy NCIS. "The Jump Off is a spin-off of the "Zane Chronicles."
Torry, a “military brat,” hails from Saint Louis, Missouri, with his five siblings. Growing up, Torry knew he was funny when he would present his projects for show and tell, and all the kids would laugh hysterically. It was then that he knew comedy would be in his future. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communications and Broadcast Journalism from Lincoln University and an Honorary Doctorate in Humane Letters for his work in the Entertainment Industry.
In 1996, Torry established the Giving Back the Love Foundation to sponsor youth and community programs. The foundation mentored over 30,000 children and families on the importance of healthcare awareness and education.
Currently on his “WTF COMEDY TOUR,” upcoming projects to look for will be his stand-up comedy special “WTF,” the “Joe Torry WTF Comedy Club,” which is a round-table sit-down with the greatest comics and personalities in entertainment and beyond. Look for Joe in Upcoming projects like the dramatic film “Other Side of 8 Mile,” the Comedy film “Different with Me,” where he plays a hilariously crazy preacher "Pastor Bryan", the movie "Unlocked"and "Holiday Blackout a Christmas film. Joe also stars in and produces the Untitled Miles Davis mini-series.
Joe Torry is set to launch his Radio Show on digital radio Power 97.5 Viva Las Vegas and his podcast “Live from the Bunker” along with his multi-purpose streaming channel SoulTV a new way to enjoy a variety of content from all over the world.
