Northern California native Jenny Scheinman – a violinist, fiddler, singer, and writer of songs with and without words – has been performing since she was a teenager. She’s worked extensively with Bill Frisell, Jason Moran, Brian Blade, and Marc Ribot – that is to say, some of the most innovative jazz artists of our time – and also toured and recorded with such American songwriting legends as Lucinda Williams, Rodney Crowell, and Ani DiFranco. Jenny Scheinman has released eight albums of original music including her most recent Here On Earth (2017, Royal Potato Family), which features music composed for her film + live music piece Kannapolis: A Moving Portrait.  She comes to Jazz Standard to present her well-loved group Mischief & Mayhem, an instrumental quartet featuring Wilco guitarist Nels Cline, bassist Todd Sickafoose, and innovative jazz veteran drummer Jim Black. A band about which New York Magazine declared, "…when Scheinman cocks her fiddle to her chin, draws back her bow, and starts shredding along with her excellent bandmates in Mischief & Mayhem, the result is beautiful havoc unleashed.”
