The JGI New Orleans Jazz Cohort is a collective of New Orleans musicians invited annually by Jazz Generations Initiative (JGI) co-founder Dr. Courtney Bryan to collaborate throughout the course of a year around the multigenerational and interdisciplinary aspects of jazz in curating, producing, and composing work that honors the opportunity to converse intentionally around a wide variety of topics spanning: healing, democracy, creolité, and more.  Tonight's concert introduces the first JGI New Orleans Jazz Cohort (2026) with the first in a series of performances, entitled "ANCIENT ENTRY," a portal to ancestral rhythms, familiar melodies, and curious new textures alike, in a collaborative evening of music traversing multiple generations, including compositions of their own, and improvisations featuring a handful of special guests to be announced.  Dr. Courtney Bryan herself is expected to sit in with the cohort, and a few surprise guests will be announced on the day of show as a part of this special Jazz Fest week show.  The 2026 JGI New Orleans Jazz Cohort Fellows are: Tonya Boyd-Cannon - vocals Steve Lands - trumpet   Aurora Nealand - saxophones, clarinet, accordion, vocals   Victor Campbell - piano   Max Moran - bass  The ANCIENT ENTRY Special Guests include:   Alfred Jordan Jr. - drums   Weedie Braimah - percussion, sacred drums   Vanito Brown - guitar, from Cuba   Cheeky Blakk - New Orleans Bounce legend   Ms. Germaine Bazzle - The 1st Lady of New Orleans Jazz ~ Exclusive Jazz Fest 2026 Week performance!  *This special concert is made possible with generous support from the Jazz Foundation of America. Shows at 7:30pm & 9:30pm  Doors at 7:00pm & 9:00pm  Restaurant is Open 5pm - 10pm for dinner before or after your showtime: Full Bar is Open 5pm - Midnight for all, on show nights, with or without tickets. Kind Reminder:  Snug Harbor does NOT serve the full menu inside the Music Room. We do offer cheese and charcuterie tray options. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts, only the charcuterie, cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room. However, we encourage you to arrive at least 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for your ticketed showtime.  Due to our intimate venue's limited seating capacity, advance tickets are strongly suggested in order to guarantee seats for this acclaimed show!

ALL CONCERT TICKET SALES ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE. However, we do offer ticket transfers from one name to another, provided you email us your e-ticket confirmation and the name(s) you would like your ticket(s) transferred to via shows@snugjazz.com before 5pm on day of show, or sooner. You can also choose to gift your ticket(s) to our New Orleans Music Student Program where un-claimed tickets are offered to young music students and/or rising musician apprentices, if you cannot use your ticket(s). We can also transfer tickets from one show TIME to another on the SAME DATE ONLY, *provided space is available* at the time of your request. You must email shows@snugjazz.com before 5pm on day of show with your request. Tickets are NOT transferrable to a different artist/date.
