Jason Yeager & Justin Poindexter: Don’t Fence Me In – The Music of Cole Porter
An All-Star Tribute at Birdland
Birdland is proud to present Jason Yeager & Justin Poindexter: Don’t Fence Me In – The Music of Cole Porter, an evening celebrating the enduring brilliance, wit, and sophistication of one of America’s greatest songwriters.
Pianist Jason Yeager and guitarist Justin Poindexter bring their expansive musical vision and deep jazz sensibility to a spirited tribute to Cole Porter’s songbook. Known for its elegance, clever lyricism, and melodic ingenuity, Porter’s music provides the perfect canvas for this dynamic collaboration, offering fresh perspectives while honoring the composer’s unmistakable style.
Joining Yeager and Poindexter is an extraordinary rhythm section: master drummer Steve Little (Duke Ellington, Dizzy Gillespie, Sesame Street) and legendary bassist Bill Crowe (Stan Getz, J.J. Johnson, Gerry Mulligan). Together, this all-star quartet delivers vibrant, inventive
interpretations of Porter’s beloved classics, blending swing, sophistication, and joyful
spontaneity.
Adding extra sparkle to the evening are two distinguished guest artists:
Julie Benko – Broadway sensation and vocal powerhouse
Sasha Papernik – Renowned pianist, accordionist, and vocalist
