Jaime French featuring Jedd Hughes , Tom Bukovac , Nick Govrik with CLIFFS

  • Jaime French

    Music

Jaime French, a true original has forged her own road. For the past decade, the dynamic comedian/YouTuber has left an indelible mark on the digital landscape with her unique blend of humor, wit, intellect and creativity and now she's set to conquer another horizon with the release of her debut EP, The Ripple Effect (March 24) with its palpitating lead single, "The Hunter" entering the digital world.
Born in St. Louis, French’s passion for creation ignited at a young age when she received a video camera for her 12th birthday. From that moment, she embarked on a journey of storytelling and self-expression through a lens.
Initially focusing on makeup and beauty tutorials, she soon discovered her comedic talents and transitioned to creating content that showcased her irreverent humor, searing commentary and fresh inventive editing, a purely modern way of storytelling.
The Ripple Effect's redemptive arc shines though on "Carry Me," a song about finding support and strength in learning to heal as everyone, from time to time, needs to be carried, if only until they can get back on their own feet. The song is inspired by the love and support of her husband Nick over the last 15 years. Carry Me echoes the poem, "Footprints," which, in essence, is about someone getting to heaven and asking God, "Why was there only one set of footprints, where were you when I needed you most?" "I was with you all along, because I was carrying you," is the spiritual lesson learned, one that speaks to love, be it from religion, spiritual affirmations, faith or human connection.

With that ethos, French wants to cast a ripple effect of footprints to encourage and inspire those that need it most, to build a global community, virtually, but also in person. To this path, she's on the road this year to continue her successful run of sold out shows, bringing comedy, music, levity and a sense of serenity from consumption as a commodity.

  • Jedd Hughes

    Country

Jedd Hughes describes life with transcendental precision: a sleepless night in Modesto; a childhood on the edge of the sprawling Australian desert; an old friend whose wit is still razor-sharp, finally at peace.
Listening to Hughes, you don’t just picture a place or a person. You experience them. It makes sense, then, that Hughes’s technicolor world has often felt too formidable for three verses and a chorus. He couldn’t settle for making music that was anything but all of him, and so we waited––waited on the kid legends befriended and believed in––to find a way to capture the smoky stories and sounds that danced and beckoned to him, just out of focus.
The wait is over. In the summer of 2019, Hughes will release WEST, his years-anticipated solo album of his expansive roots-anchored rock-and-roll. Hughes’ easy tenor and masterful guitar playing are worthy companions to his songwriting that transports listeners to dark corners and astral visions, evoking desperation, restlessness, and poignant recognition. The record is a triumph, both personally and professionally. “I came over here to make my own music––that was my dream,” Hughes says. “I started suppressing that dream when things went wrong. Then to make my own music, I had to figure out what that even was. I had to get some confidence, to try it again, and believe in myself.”

  • Nick Govrik

    Music

Nick Govrik is an American musician, songwriter, and chef from Nashville, Tennessee. He is most notably known for his current role as the bass player and primary songwriter of the band Trigger Hippy, which was cofounded by Black Crowes drummer Steve Gorman and Govrik in 2009 [1]. Govrik and Gorman were joined on stage by Jimmy Herring and Audley Freed at the band’s first show under the name Trigger Hippy at the Cox Capital Theatre in Macon, GA in 2009. Trigger Hippy’s past members include Joan Osborne, Jackie Greene, and Tom Bukovac [2]. The group’s current line-up includes guitarist Ed Jurdi and singer/saxophonist Amber Woodhouse [3]. Govrik was also the chef and owner of Kitchen Downtown, which he opened in Nashville’s historic Arcade in 2019. Govrik served as the long-time Executive Chef at the University Club of Nashville on Vanderbilt University Campus for 15 years, until its closing in 2018.

Prior to founding Trigger Hippy, Nick Govrik played with a number of bands in the Nashville area. Along with Chad Abel and Lewis Stubbs, Govrik founded the Nashville band Highwater — a local and regional roots rock and roll band of the 1990s. The group recorded three albums at the world-famous Muscle Shoals Sound Studios under the guidance of Wolf Stephenson of Malaco Records. In 2001–2003 Govrik hosted a weekly music jam called “Nicky G’s Jubilee” with fellow musicians Rob McNelley and Trey Landry. Following his work with Highwater, Govrik was the bass player for the soul and gospel group Mike Farris & The Roseland Rhythm Revue from 2007–2010. In February 2010, Govrik, along with Gorman and Herring, backed up Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi at the John Bell and Friends Benefit Bash at the House of Blues in Orlando, Florida. In 2012, Govrik toured with legendary Rolling Stone’s saxophone player Bobby Keys.
