Delfeayo Marsalis will host a special celebration of International Jazz Day featuring his award winning Uptown Jazz Orchestra (UJO) with special guests. Delfeayo is one of the top composers and producers in Jazz. Known for his technical excellence, inventive mind and frequent touches of humor. The UJO is an all star ensemble of 18 aces from the New Orleans community. Joining the band tonight will be 7 Time Grammy Award winning trumpeter Randy Brecker, International star of the guitar and oud, Mahmoud Chouki, and New Orleans piano phenom and singer Davell Crawford. International Jazz Day is a worldwide celebration held every year on April 30 to highlight jazz and its role in uniting people across cultures. It was established in 2011 by UNESCO (the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) at the initiative of legendary jazz pianist and composer Herbie Hancock, who is also a UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador. The program’s goals include promoting peace, diversity, and respect among cultures through jazz, raising awareness of jazz’s roots and contributions to social movements, and supporting education in music and fostering young talent. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts, only the charcuterie, cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room. However, we encourage you to arrive at least 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for your ticketed showtime.
