“At their best musically, they’re something like Buckingham and Nicks filtered through Collins and Bush (that’s, uh, Phil and Kate) but steeped in softened astral aspirations.” - LA Weekly

Dream indie pop duo In The Valley Below bring their enchanting and powerful live show on tour with the release of their third album, The Black Moon, their first in five years (to be released July 12), since 2019’s The Pink Chateau. That groundbreaking album was accompanied by a surreal feature film launched with multiple immersive listening events where guests were given their own personal headphones to listen while exploring an environment reflecting the record’s themes of sensuality, hope, fear, and home being where the heart lies…however uneasily. ITVB then toured movie houses performing the entire album live over headphones syncing their performance to the movie.

The Black Moon continues to examine that heady mix of desire and dread, the magic and the mortality that marks the pair’s now decade-plus personal and musical relationship, including a 12-year-old son and three albums.

Angela Gail and Jeffrey Jacob formed in Los Angeles as In The Valley Below. They grew up in Muskegon, Michigan and Memphis, Tennessee and met while pursuing the dream of music in LA. They first found success when “Peaches”, their debut single from “The Belt” (Capitol Records) first found the airwaves in Europe, debuting on BBC Radio One and climbing the charts in France and Germany, becoming #1 on French Alternative radio. Over a year later, it became a staple on US alternative radio and just last year earned a gold record in Canada. The song was remixed by Passion Pit, Kele Okereke of Bloc Party and more.

During the success of Peaches they spent years of non-stop touring including high profile stops like Reading and Leeds, Austin City Limits, Corona Capital and more, headlining tours and supporting tours for bands like White Lies, Albert Hammond Jr., Cold War Kids and TV appearances on Letterman and Conan.

The two escaped a tiny apartment in L.A.’s Echo Park to a gothic, 100-year-old retreat in Grand Rapids, Michigan, where they built a recording studio where much of the new album was made. Three of the new songs, including the opening track “Brushfire,” were recorded with producer Sam Cohen [Kevin Morby, Sharon Van Etten, Danger Mouse] at his Slow Fawn studio in upstate New York, along with “Twilight” and “White Light.”

While In The Valley Below haven’t released a new album in five years, they’ve been busy in the interim, headlining shows in Japan, touring with OMD and The Airborne Toxic Event and appearing at the World is a Vampire Festival in Mexico City with the Smashing Pumpkins, Interpol and Turnstile.
