In The Round with Ron Pope, Zach Berkman & Caroline Spence

  • Ron Pope

    Singer-Songwriter

Fiercely independent, Nashville-based recording artist, Ron Pope, carved his niche in the digital era's early days with his breakout hit, "A Drop in the Ocean,” which has amassed over 1 billion streams, earning platinum status in the US, alongside double platinum status in Sweden. His prolific songwriting is a natural fit for Music City’s Americana, roots, and country communities, garnering praise from publications such as Rolling Stone, Billboard, NPR, CMT, No Depression, and The Tennessean. With each release, including his most recent album, American Man, American Music, released in February 2025, Pope continues to captivate audiences with his raw authenticity and profound storytelling, soul-stirring melodies, and introspective lyricism. Beyond his own musical endeavors, Pope writes and produces for other artists, and serves as a guiding light for aspiring musicians navigating the ever-changing landscape of today’s music industry.
  • Zach Berkman

    Folk

Zach Berkman is a songwriter, performer, record producer, audio engineer, and multi-instrumentalist.

After graduating from The Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU, Berkman worked for XM Satellite Radio recording performances for broadcast at Jazz at Lincoln Center and at festivals around the country. Working extensively with the artist Ron Pope, Berkman helped shape several albums and a myriad of songs as producer and writer, including the song ‘A Drop in the Ocean’ which has sold over a million copies.

All 5 of his self-produced solo albums have appeared on the iTunes singer-songwriter charts. A member of folk ensemble, The District, Berkman produced and performed on three full-length albums.

In 2012, he produced a series of 26 music videos. Berkman’s production credits include albums for Corey Balsamo, Mike Clifford, and Alexis Babini. He collaborates with numerous writers.

Berkman’s compositions have been featured on ABC, NBC, The CW, ABC Family, Nickelodeon, and The Travel Channel. He has toured extensively in North America and Europe as an artist, tour manager, and front of house engineer.

  • Caroline Spence

    Singer-Songwriter

Caroline Spence is a singer-songwriter based in Nashville, TN. Her five solo albums have been featured by publications like Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and NPR. Established artists like Emmylou Harris, Matt Berninger of The National, Sarah Jarosz and Lori McKenna have joined Caroline on her songs as featured vocalists and her body of work has been streamed over 80 million times.

Caroline has toured as the opening act for artists such as Tyler Childers, Mary Chapin Carpenter, John Moreland, Madi Diaz, Hayes Carll, and American Aquarium in addition to headlining shows across the US, the UK, and Europe.

Caroline also loves writing with other artists for their projects as well as with producers for film & tv. Her songs have been placed in television shows on ABC, NBC, Fox and Apple TV as well as in ads for Dove and, most recently, the major motion picture, Lilly, the story of Lilly Ledbetter. Her songs have also been recorded by other artists such as Lucie Silvas, Andrew Combs, Fancy Hagood, Sierra Hull and Clare Bowen.

Caroline’s latest album, Heart Go Wild, was released in August of 2025 and reestablishes Spence as an independent artist, arriving after her multi-year run of albums with Rounder Records. She makes the most of that freedom, exploring new techniques in the studio and new directions in her songs. Co-produced Spence, Mark Campbell and Peter Groenwald, the album balances craft with creative experimentation, making room for pop anthems (“Fun at Parties”), emotionally bare ballads (“Confront It”), beat-driven explorations of self (“Soft Animal”), and left-field influences. The result is her most imaginative interpretation of modern-day roots music to date, reaching beyond the swooning, soft-hued Americana of her earlier work to showcase just how colorful and wide-ranging her artistry can be.
