    Country Folk

    Serving a stint as a cook at the Bluebird Café didn't do much harm to pull her into the singer/songwriter fold. In 1988, Richey planted her roots in Nashville to really test that fold and hone her own songwriting craft. She built a reputation as a singer who could interpret a lyric and harmonize with the best of them, all the while writing songs with an optimistic melancholy quality that is unusual and alluring.

    Before too long, the Zanesville, Ohio, native was signed to PolyGram Records, releasing her eponymous debut in 1995. Bitter Sweet and Glimmer followed in two-year increments. All three albums were tagged as contemporary country but actually fall in step pretty close to John Hiatt's brand of music making. Comparisons to Shawn Colvin have also run rampant over the years, due to Richey's cleverly twisting lyrical phrases and beats. By the time she made 1999's Glimmer with producer Hugh Padgham, her sound leaned even further toward the pop end of the spectrum. Cut to 2002 and the release of Rise. Teaming up with producer Bill Bottrell, Richey fleshed out her sound with worldly flavors of instrumentation, atypical for a so-called contemporary country artist. The result was mesmerizing and her most masterful work to date. Her greatest hits, entitled Collection, arrived in 2004, followed by Chinese Boxes in the summer of 2007.

    In recent years, Kim turned to her East Nashville-based bandleader and frequent co-writer Neilson Hubbard to conjure the earthy indie-pop feel of Wreck Your Wheels and to complete her masterpiece of smart, sensual understatement Thorn In My Heart. She continues to tour and perform on the Grand Ole Opry.

    Black's songs have earned GRAMMY recognition, radio chart-topping stats and numerous BMI awards. Although flying below the radar as a performer himself, he has been recognized by NPR as a musical pioneer in the digital age. His flagship podcast "Black Tuesdays" circa 2005-2007 are classic imprints on the format and his catalogue of critically acclaimed albums continues to grow. Composing music for film and television, his credits include numerous indie-film soundtracks and a repertoire of songs cut by artists as diverse as Alison Krauss & Union Station, Waylon Jennings, BlackHawk, Dierks Bentley, Jon Randall, John Oates, Jerry Douglas and Sam Bush. Black has forged a reputation as a true folk troubadour entertaining audiences globally for over three decades. A master songwriter and performer in the tradition of the great storytellers, his passionate, soul driven live performances of songs from his vast catalog are not to be missed.

    20th Century Recordings is the remastered collection of Black’s famed original demos, bootleg cassettes of which created formidable buzz within the early ‘90s Nashville music community. It was this collection of now-iconic tracks like ‘Carnival Song’, ‘They’re Gonna Miss Me When I’m Gone’ and ‘Just About Right’ – which would become a #1 country hit for Blackhawk – that secured Jeff’s signing to Arista Records for 1998’s Birmingham Road album that launched his career. 20th Century was originally recorded and has been newly mixed by two-time Grammy winner Dave Sinko, known for his work with Trisha Yearwood, Don Williams and Punch Brothers.

  • Mando Saenz

    Singer-Songwriter

    Hailing from Texas, Mando Saenz has become one of the most notable songwriters in country music and is establishing a sound uniquely his own. There’s no question as to why he has over 50 cuts from some of today’s biggest artists — including Lee Ann Womack, Jack Ingram, Stoney LaRue, Frankie Ballard, Aubrie Sellers, “Bad Boy” from Miranda Lambert’s 2016 album, The Weight of These Wings, and “Brand New Star” from The Oak Ridge Boys’ latest record, 17th Avenue Revival, produced by Dave Cobb. In addition to songwriting, Saenz has associate produced two albums with award-winning producer Frank Liddell (Stoney LaRue’s 2011 Velvet and 2014 Aviator), and released three of his own.

    Caroline Spence is a singer-songwriter based in Nashville, TN. Her five solo albums have been featured by publications like Rolling Stone, Pitchfork, and NPR. Established artists like Emmylou Harris, Matt Berninger of The National, Sarah Jarosz and Lori McKenna have joined Caroline on her songs as featured vocalists and her body of work has been streamed over 80 million times. 

    Caroline has toured as the opening act for artists such as Tyler Childers, Mary Chapin Carpenter, John Moreland, Madi Diaz, Hayes Carll, and American Aquarium in addition to headlining shows across the US, the UK, and Europe.

    Caroline also loves writing with other artists for their projects as well as with producers for film & tv. Her songs have been placed in television shows on ABC, NBC, Fox and Apple TV as well as in ads for Dove and, most recently, the major motion picture, Lilly, the story of Lilly Ledbetter. Her songs have also been recorded by other artists such as Lucie Silvas, Andrew Combs, Fancy Hagood, Sierra Hull and Clare Bowen.

    Caroline’s latest album, Heart Go Wild, was released in August of 2025 and reestablishes Spence as an independent artist, arriving after her multi-year run of albums with Rounder Records. She makes the most of that freedom, exploring new techniques in the studio and new directions in her songs. Co-produced Spence, Mark Campbell and Peter Groenwald, the album balances craft with creative experimentation, making room for pop anthems (“Fun at Parties”), emotionally bare ballads (“Confront It”), beat-driven explorations of self (“Soft Animal”), and left-field influences. The result is her most imaginative interpretation of modern-day roots music to date, reaching beyond the swooning, soft-hued Americana of her earlier work to showcase just how colorful and wide-ranging her artistry can be.
