I moved to East Nashville twenty years ago with a guitar and a notebook. Since then I've released eight albums, written a book of short stories called Medium Hero, hosted over a hundred episodes of The Morse Code Podcast (now the Korby Lenker Podcast), and built a studio called Ranch Vovo with my wife and creative partner, Randa Newman.
I've won the Kerrville New Folk Contest, the International Songwriting Competition, and the MerleFest Songwriting Competition (and several others). My songs have been placed in film and television. I've toured internationally and played more house concerts than I can count.
But the thing I keep coming back to is the same thing that brought me here in the first place: a song that makes someone feel something they didn't have words for. That's the job. Everything else is just how I get there.
In 2023, I co-wrote and starred in Morse Code, a scripted pilot about a songwriter and his community in East Nashville. It won the Audience Choice Award at the Berlin Shorts Film Festival and the Nashville Film Festival, Best Lead Actor at the NYC TV Festival, and screened at a dozen festivals worldwide.
