How The Grouch Stole Christmas Tour Living Legends with Cunninlynguists and Souls of Mischief

  • Living Legends

    Hip-Hop/Rap

Living Legends is an American independent hip hop supergroup from California consisting of Murs, Luckyiam, Sunspot Jonz, The Grouch, Eligh, Scarub, Aesop The Black Wolf and Bicaso. Originating in the mid 1990s, the crew garnered a strong grassroots following by selling their home recorded cassettes and CD's out of their backpacks on Bay Area streets. The group self funded countless of their own world tours and have remain completely independent to this day with a f*ck the industry ethos.

As a collective they have recorded six albums to date with a long awaited full length, "The Return" slated for release on November 24, 2023. Each member of the group is an active solo artist and combined they have hundreds of projects under their belts.

Living Legends continue to touch people worldwide with their raw truthful raps and unique sound giving listeners a feeling through the music that can not be attained anywhere else.

  • CunninLynguists

    Urban

Witty lyrics and edgy productions have made CunninLynguists underground rap favorites. Before the progressive Southern group took shape, Deacon the Villain from Kentucky and  from Georgia were individually known for their skills on the mike and in the producer's chair. The duo's debut, Will Rap for Food, appeared on the small Urban Aces label in 2001 and soon went out of print. Rave reviews and Internet message boards helped make the album a collector's item until it was reissued by the -associated  label.  was also responsible for CunninLynguists' sophomore effort, 2003's Southernunderground, which found  joining the group, allowing  to focus on production. The album featured guest appearances by  and , as well as some political material in response to the September 11, 2001 attacks.

Two loose mixtapes featuring a parade of guest stars, Sloppy Seconds, Vol. 1 and Sloppy Seconds, Vol. 2, preceded the group's third album, as did the departure of . A Piece of Strange, released by The LA Underground/QN5 Music in early 2006, featured newly recruited member Natti and appearances by  and . The group toured extensively for the release, scoring high-profile opening slots for , , . Fourth album Dirty Acres appeared on  in 2007 with , , and  contributing guest verses. Two mixtapes followed in 2009.  released his debut solo album, Death Is Silent, in 2010.

CunninLynguists returned in 2011 with their fifth proper studio album, Oneirology, which featured  and  and became their first release to hit Billboard R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart. The group then took a short break, with Natti releasing solo album Still Motion in 2013, and  forming trip-hop group Built to Fade, who released To Dust the same year. Strange Journey, Vol. 3 appeared in 2014, and was created with input from fans, who provided ideas for musical concepts as well as artwork. Later in the year, the group collaborated with  and  for the tour-only release The WinterFire EP. The Rose EP and The Azure EP, issued four months apart in 2017, led to the album Rose Azura Njano that October. ~ David Jeffries, Rovi

  • Souls of Mischief

    Urban

    Yo, whassup? This is Tajai

Of the mighty Souls of Mischief crew

I'm chillin' with my man Phesto, my man A-Plus

And my man Op', you know he's dope

But right now, you know, we just maxin' in the studio

We hailin' from East Oakland, California

And, um, sometimes it gets a little hectic out there

But right now, yo, we gonna up you on how we just chill..

1993, West Coast… Dr Dre vs Eazy-E, Snoop Doggy Dog on the rise with his debut  album alongside the N.W.A don of production. Tupac with the summer release of ‘I  Get Around’, but caught up in alleged gun fights and assault charges. G-funk the  national conversation.

So when Souls Of Mischief came onto the scene with their funky outfits, slammin’  beats and breazy attitudes - backed with a lyrical dexterity far beyond their teenage  years – a fresh hop to the bounce of the West Coast was born.

“Sometimes it gets a little hectic out there…”, Tajai exclaimed in the intro, “…But  right now we gonna up you on how we just chill”.

The California quartet announced themselves with harmlessly refreshing confidence,  on more of a Tribe tip with jazz-drips and groove-infused rhythms – yet lyrically more  adventurous and weed-scented; more of a Pharcyde vibe with endlessly cool rhymes  and multisyllabic wordplays - yet more intellectual, energetic and freestyle-ready. A funky introspection was clear to see. This was Oakland, California in 1993.

…Now, 30 years on, 93 to 23, still infinity. Still hectic out there. Time flies but Souls  are still chillin. “Now you have younger generations who were born in ’93,” says

Phesto. “They’re like, ‘ ’93 ’til infinity.’ It means so many different things to so many  different people”

30 YEARS OF 93 ‘TIL INFINITY – AROUND THE WORLD IN 93 DATES #23tilinfinity

From this February onward, Souls Of Mischief will go Around the World in 93 Dates bringing their effortlessly cool rhymes and rhythms to the world. It’s an anni worth  celebrating. Full album renditions. Party feels. Dripping with Jazz. Flavoursome flows.  Cali energy. Fresh garms (with limited runs for sale) and ripe freestyles.

‘This is 93 ‘til infinity, you know, so it’s markin’ the time but also movin’ beyond the  time, you feel me?’ - Yasiin Bey (Mos Def)
