Description
The internationally renowned Hot 8 Brass Band from New Orleans is one of the most enduring and innovative groups in the Crescent City lineage that dates back to Congo Square in the 1880s. Despite traveling the globe often, at home they are among the most popular -- and visible -- funk-style brass bands to participate in community parades and funerals. Their albums have all been issued on the U.K. label Tru Thoughts (which is normally associated with the music of DJ culture and soul and R&B). Several of their tracks have been remixed by well-known producers and DJs and issued as EPs. The band, whose lineup changes often but always retains its four core founding members, can feature as many as ten members. Their funk style blends elemental influences from the Dirty Dozen and Rebirth brass bands, contemporary R&B, rap, and bounce. Their unique sound is due to creative original songs and ideas composed or introduced by its members.

Drawing on the traditional jazz heritage of their hometown of New Orleans, the Hot 8 Brass Band are renowned for including elements of funk, hip hop, rap, and its local variation, “bounce” in their music. The collective earned a win in the 64th Annual Grammy Awards 2022 for their feature on John Batiste’s ‘Album of The Year', following the nomination of their ‘The Life & Times Of…’ LP for ‘Best Regional Roots Album’ in 2013.
Transcending genres and trends, Hot 8 have performed and collaborated with the likes of Jon Batiste, Blind Boys of Alabama, Basement Jaxx and Alice Russell, and provided live support for Mos Def, Lauryn Hill and Mary J Blige. Since forming they have established a decade-long affiliation with actor/BBC 6Music DJ Craig Charles, among other tastemakers, DJs and journalists worldwide. After a festive appearance Live at Maida Vale for Lauren Laverne (BBC 6 Music), the Hot 8 Brass Band performed for Jools Holland's annual Hootenanny on BBC Two to welcome in 2019. Later that year, after taking to the stage at the BRIT awards in February, Hot 8 Brass Band were invited on the European leg of George Ezra’s tour.

Ska Revival
BBuddy Jay's Jamaican Jazz Band elaborates on the tradition of Jamaican Jazz and R n'B music. Engaging a deep respect for the sound, and pushing the music forward by writing original Jamaican jazz ,ska, dub reggae, calypso and rocksteady influenced tunes has been their path. Their sound is firmly rooted in the golden era of Jamaican music; the1960's and 1970's. Buddy Jay and the band's unique take on the genre of Jamaican jazz have allowed them to feel comfortable sharing the stage with bands performing a meried of styles. As part of the Soul'd Out Music Festival they shared the event with the likes of Vieux Farke Toure, Charles Bradley, Mos Def, and many more and have also shared the stage with genre icons like Winston Jarrett, The Skints, and The Expanders to name a few. The current lineup features members of All The Apparatus, Cherimoya, The Isrealites, Grupo Condente, and Brownish Black. Buddy and the band's very first album, "Buddy Jay's Jamaican Jazz Band" was recently released upon the world to great acclaim.
