After gaining viral fame in 2018 with the Tiny Desk video for “Peach Scone,” the band released their major‑label debut, The Rise of Hobo Johnson, which reached No. 11 on Billboard’s Heatseekers chart. They followed up in 2019 with The Fall of Hobo Johnson, a confessional album exploring jealousy, heartbreak, and emotional vulnerability. After a creative hiatus in 2021–22 and a brief breakup of the LoveMakers, Lopes returned in 2024 with the double single “Dad’s Bed” / “Metaverse”, signaling a stylistic pivot back toward emotionally charged, band-driven songs.
