Description
Hilarious Habibis is The Hollywood Improv's FIRST EVER stand up showcase featuring exclusively Middle Eastern/North African [MENA] comedians. Given the recent news, this particular show will be a fundraiser for human rights in Iran with a lineup of Iranian comedians, including Aristotle Athari (SNL), Dan Ahdoot (The Tonight Show), Sarah Fatemi, + more to be announced! Ticket sales will be donated to the The Abdorrahman Boroumand Center for Human Rights in Iran, a registered 501(c)(3).
We hope to use this show to come together and laugh for a good cause and to benefit the Iranian people during this troubling time.
EVENT INFO:
Seating is general admission and assigned as first-come, first-served, with the exception of groups and premium booths.
There is a two-item minimum purchase requirement in the showroom for all guests.
No photography or video recording is permitted during performances.
Cell phone use in the showroom is permissible only for contactless ordering and payment of food and/or beverages.
All sales are final.

Maz Jobrani is a comedian and actor who performs around the world and recently released a new standup comedy special THE BIRDS AND THE BEES that is now available for streaming on YouTube. As an actor, he was most recently seen playing the loveable "Fawz" on the CBS comedy SUPERIOR DONUTS. He has made many appearances on television's most popular shows including GREY'S ANATOMY, CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, BETTER OFF TED, LAST MAN STANDING, and SHAMELESS. He has also been a regular guest on THE LATE SHOW WITH STEPHEN COLBERT AND THE LATE LATE SHOW WITH JAMES CORDEN. Maz starred as the title character in the award-winning indie comedy, JIMMY VESTVOOD: AMERIKAN HERO, a feature which he co-wrote and co-produced. He has co-starred in many additional films, including Sydney Pollack's THE INTERPRETER, Disney's DESCENDANTS and Ice Cube's FRIDAY AFTER NEXT. Maz's other standup comedy specials include IMMIGRANT, which was filmed at the prestigious Kennedy Center and is a NETFLIX original, as well as 3 additional solo specials on SHOWTIME: BROWN AND FRIENDLY, I COME IN PEACE, and I'M NOT A TERRORIST, BUT I'VE PLAYED ONE ON TV. In the Spring of 2016 he performed at the White House where he had the privilege of introducing Michelle Obama. As a UC Berkeley alum, Maz gave the keynote speech to the graduating class of 2017. Maz served as the host for the 45th International Emmy's in New York. He was a founding member of THE AXIS OF EVIL comedy tour, which aired on Comedy Central. He is a regular panelist on NPR's WAIT WAIT DONT TELL ME and has given 2 TED Talks. His LA Times Best Selling Book, I'M NOT A TERRORIST BUT I'VE PLAYED ONE ON TV, was published by Simon & Schuster. Maz executive produced EVERYTHING MUST CHANGE, a documentary about his sister's battle with breast cancer which is currently available on iTunes.

Comedian, actor, and filmmaker Aristotle Athari, who has just joined Saturday Night Live this season as a featured player.
Athari is the first male Persian cast member of SNL, and the second overall, following alum Nasim Pedrad.
He is best known for his work acting in, writing, and directing Comedy Central’s, Goatface opposite collaborators Hasan Minaj, Fahim Anwar, and Asif Ali. He is also known for playing Gabe the programmer in the final season of HBO’s Silicon Valley.Athari was also most recently named to Just For Laugh’s New Faces this year. He joins as a SNL featured player this year with Sarah Sherman and James Austin Johnson.
He directed Will Smith’s snapchat series, Will From Home, along with stand-up comedy specials for Rosebud Baker, Ian Edwards, Fahim Anwar, Erik Griffin, and Tom Arnold that have aired on Comedy Central, Showtime, and NBC.

Dan is a national headliner who is a frequent guest on The Tonight Show, and is currently acting on Netflix’s Cobra Kai. He has been on NBC's Bajillion Dollar Propertie$, Showtime’s Shameless, Comedy Central’s Workaholics and Disney Channel’s Kickin’ It.
Dan has a diverse writing career as well. He wrote the Lionsgate feature film Public Disturbance, and has previously developed with FOX, CBS, NBC and Freeform.

At the Improv, she co-produces Hilarious Habibis, a quarterly standup showcase that exclusively features Middle Eastern talent. The show was recently featured in the Netflix Is A Joke Festival, The New York Comedy Festival, SF Sketchfest, the LA Times, and AlAraby TV.

Called "up-and-coming" by the LA Times, Lynn Maleh is a Syrian-American writer and standup comedian whose last name means salty, which she is. She's written for Bounce TV, The Onion, Reductress, and McSweeneys and has performed on Hot Tub with Kurt and Kristen, The Second City Diversity Festival, The Westside Comedy Festival, and one time on Law and Order SVU by accident. She co-created and co-produces Hilarious Habibis, the first ever Middle Eastern-only standup showcase at The Hollywood Improv.
