Over the years, Herlin Riley has gained a reputation as one of Jazz’s most respected and versatile drummers, seamlessly blending the traditional and modern. His career took off in the 1980s when he joined the bands of Jazz luminaries Ahmad Jamal and Wynton Marsalis, eventually becoming a core member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. Herlin has recorded multiple albums, including Watch What You’re Doing and New Direction, showcasing his virtuosity. In addition to his solo work, Riley has collaborated with a wide array of artists, from Dr. John to Harry Connick Jr. Known for his charismatic stage presence and commitment to mentorship, Riley continues to inspire the next generation of musicians through his performances and educational work, leaving an indelible mark.
