Not to be confused with the dazzling Hollywood girl-next-door, Hayden Panettiere, Hayden is a Canadian fellow (aka Paul Hayden Dressler) who’s been cranking out tunes since the mid-90s, and of course, is well-known and loved in his native country. This Toronto native’s latest album, Us Alone, is shaded with a musical gauze that brings to mind either the creeping of dusk, the revelation of the morning, or any moments of life where anesthesia brings bliss. Don’t expect hand-clap laden campfire pop -- Hayden’s career has consistently drawn on a richly melodic darkness. Another extremely talented Canadian singer-songwriter, Doug Paisley, returns to the Beachland after a summer of recording with the likes of Will Oldham collaborator Emmet Kelly, and The Band’s legendary organist Garth Hudson. Doug’s laid-back folk is a comet of real songwriting goodness -- that is, his near-Don Williams delivery only comes once in a while. Opening is Cleveland singer-songwriter Noon, accompanied only by her voice and piano.
