HAROLD AND MAUDE
OUTDOORS ON THE FAIRBANKS LAWN
WITH DJ JEREMY SOLE
7:00PM GATES
8:45PM SCREENING
Paramount’s beloved, subversive, anti-authoritarian 70’s Cult classic, produced and directed by Hollywood legends Robert Evans and Hal Ashby with soundtrack by Cat Stevens
Our favorite movie to screen at the cemetery explores existentialist questions with dark humor, off beat (taboo) romance, morbid sensibilities, and Flower Power.
Between staging his own elaborate suicides, hearse driving Harold (Bud Cort) encounters free-spirited octogenarian Maude (Ruth Gordon) during their shared hobby of funeral watching. Romance ensues when Maude steals Harold’s hearse and offers him a ride. What follows is a life affirming love story unlike any other in cinematic history as Maude teaches Harold how to find meaning in life as well as death.
Ranked number 45 on the American Film Institute's list of 100 Funniest Movies of all Time, don’t miss the once-in-a-decade chance to see this on the Fairbanks Lawn below and among the stars.
Directed by Hal Ashby
1971 - 91 minutes - Rated PG
Paramount Pictures
You may bring blankets, pillows, low chairs, and picnics (including beer and wine - NO distilled spirits).
There will be onsite food and beverage for purchase.
