Grog Shop Idol LIVE!

Sunday, March 23
Doors 7 PM | Show 8 PM
$10 adv | $12 dos
+ $3 at the door if under 21

Do you have what it takes to be the next headliner on the Grog Shop stage? If you're between 15 and 29 years of age, do not have an active recording contract, and currently live within the Greater Cleveland area- then you are invited to compete. We are looking for the next star! The winner of Grog Shop Idol will receive a cash prize and the chance to headline our stage on an upcoming available weekend date.

To apply, please fill out our application by Friday, March 14th. We are looking for 15 participants to compete in this one-night-only event, so please get your applications in ASAP! https://bit.ly/grogshopidol

As an audience member, you'll hear the performances live, cheer on your favorites as a super fan or family member, and help our panel of experts decide who will move on in the competition. Have no relationship to the performing artists whatsoever? That's OK! Billions of Americans have tuned in to American Idol over the years for stellar (and not so great) vocal performances and to decide for themselves, WHO will be the next Idol?! This competition is no different.

  • Kathy Blackman

    Kathy Blackman

    Special Event

Kathy Blackman is the owner and lead talent buyer of Grog Shop and its basement counterpart, B Side Lounge. From humble beginnings as a 24-year-old music fan in 1992 when she first opened the club at the Mayfield Road end of Coventry, to a respected and celebrated independent business owner and artist advocate bringing huge tours to the city, Blackman will be brutally honest as one of our Grog Shop Idol judges. When she is not leading her venue staff, she is spending time with friends and family and serving as a board member for Assembly for the Arts and Coventry Village SID.
  • Scott Heisel

    Scott Heisel

    Special Event

Scott Heisel is an accomplished music educator, writer, editor and pundit who has spent the last two-and-a-half decades working for, contributing to or appearing on such media outlets as Alternative Press, SiriusXM, NPR, Apple Music and others. Additionally, he's been a voice instructor at School Of Rock for the past nine years (yes, he knows he kinda looks like Jack Black) and has coached countless singers to such heights as landing a major label showcase, winning the Tri-C High School Rock Off, starring roles in musicals and much more. He's probably seen all your favorite bands before they broke up the first time, and he'll see them again on the inevitable overpriced reunion tour.
  • Wallace Settles

    Wallace Settles

    Special Event

Wallace Settles got his start in the music industry as part of the hip hop group Moriarty in 2008 and quickly started booking and developing B Side Lounge and Grog Shop into destination stops for underground hip hop, rap, and local bands. He also serves on the entertainment booking committees for community music and arts festivals including Larchmere Porchfest, Heights Music Hop, Fresh Fest and Brite Winter Fest. He hosts ShitShow Karaoke at B Side each week, where he has seen his fair share of awful vocal performances and some great ones too.
