Gringo Star have made a name for themselves as one of Atlanta’s most valuable rock & roll exports, carrying the torch for hazy, psychedelic garage rock in a city primarily valued for its contributions to hip-hop. Brothers Nick and Peter Furgiuele are the constant creative force of Gringo Star, and have outlasted wave after wave of buzz bands and indie blog darlings, carving their own career path through constant reinvention and an unparalleled work ethic, amassing a loyal and enthusiastic international fanbase along the way. Their mind-bending take on doo-wop inspired R&B and British Invasion rock & roll has garnered praise from the likes of Pitchfork, Consequence of Sound, Paste Magazine, KEXP & more, and landed them on bills alongside everyone from Cat Power and Feist to The Black Angels and Weezer, not to mention tours with Wavves, And You Will Know Us By The Trail Of Dead, and their Atlanta-based contemporaries Black Lips.

The Demos create a brand of musical energy all their own. Lyric-centered and heavy on the harmonies, their songs are upbeat, lush reflections on love – the possible, present, and past. After working with Joywave’s Daniel Armbruster on their last EP “If You Only Knew”, The Demos caught the attention of many press outlets, musicians, and fans alike. This gained them support slots playing with bands such as Cold War Kids, Foster the People, as well as tours with multiple national recording acts such as Joywave, grandson, Jukebox the Ghost and The Aces. After spending 2020 writing in quarantine (all via Skype, over the phone and other unconventional methods of songwriting), this NY indie/alternative powerhouse is proud to release their sophomore LP, 24 Hour Hotline.

The Atlanta, indie rock band, Gringo Start is thrilled to tour their new studio album, Back to The City, released on August 24th on Nevado Music.

Peter Furgiuele, from the band says, “We really didn’t know exactly what we were gonna do when we got our buddy Dave to add some string melodies we had thought up for the song. We kind of hummed it out for him as best we could and when we heard the playback we were blown away and at that point we pretty much got him to play on every other track on the album. “

The album is the band offering another fresh take of garage, psychedelic and classic rock and roll, this time even offering strings. Back To The City is the first album recorded with Gringo Star’s newest secret weapon – Joshua Longino who help swap on guitars, bass, percussion and vocals with the Furgiuele brothers. As well a first with some lush strings by Dave Claassen.

Gringo Star are insouciant explorers, tossing the paddles overboard and drifting on the currents of their lackadaisical curiosity across a rippling sonic ocean, out to the far edges of rock & roll. Shots pulsing from a vintage Leslie speaker, their guitars, keys and vocals create the psychoactive ingredients of their echo-slathered, doo-wop-indebted indie gems; psychedelic garage bangers, gritty R&B shuffles and spaghetti western weirdness. Taking cues from Santo & Johnny, The Stooges, Ritchie Valens, Marc Bolan, Percy Faith, Sam Cooke, the men working on the chain gang—uh! ah!—they’re all here, their electric ghosts reaching across time, tapping Gringo Star on the shoulder like the crossroads devil to Robert Johnson, bestowing secrets, passing torches.

The band has toured relentlessly across the U.S. and Europe building a diehard underground following while sharing bills with everyone from Cat Power and Feist to The Black Angels and Weezer, and also touring with Wavves, Best Coast, And You Will Know Us By The Trail of Dead, The Orwells, and fellow Atlantans The Black Lips.
