Dj Sean Sharp began his djing career while he was still a student at Wesleyan University in CT. One day his Fraternity brother Smokey Fontaine showed up at school with a pair of Gemini turntables and a mixer. Sean and Smoke would spend countless hours practicing in their dorm room, blending and cutting up all of the records that they were able to borrow from the school’s radio station. The duo soon began booking gigs on campus and eventually started getting booked at many of the neighboring colleges. After Wesleyan, Sean moved to New York to work as an intern at the Village Voice. In the city he once again hooked up with his partner Smokey and they began doing small parties and venues across the city. The pair hosted a weekly industry event at the Buddha Bar in the West Village. While working as a DJ, Sean continued to pursue his writing career. Sean has written numerous cover stories and features for various music magazines including Vibe, The Source, America Magazine and many others. One day out of the blue, Smoke and Sean got a call from the owners of Webster Hall to play in the basement (which is now known as The Studio) for a weekend. Due to the overwhelming crowd response from their appearance, the owners offered the pair a weekly residency at the venue. The Basement Party was born, and quickly became one of the most popular Hip-Hop parties in the city. When Smoke left to take an editorial position at a magazine, Sean kept the party going and eventually brought on DJ DLO, one of the greatest voices in NYC nightlife, as his new partner. Known for their high energy sets, Sean and DLO have played music in every room of Webster Hall and continue to be one of the club’s prime attractions. Sean takes pride in his ability to mix various genres of music into a seamless blend of sonic goodness that keeps the dance floors packed with an eclectic group of people from around the world.
Enrique Dexter Johnson also known as DJ D.L.O has been a resident DJ here at the legendary Webster Hall for fourteen years. His passion was always to become a DJ, so at the age of fifteen he started fulfilling his dream. Being that he started at a young age, he did not take it seriously until he seen a very close friend of his play at a house party. To see him control a huge crowd by mixing records and talking on the microphone really inspired Enrique more. As years went by, his close friend known as DJ Storm gave him an oppurtunity to open up for him at an event. The crowd loved what he did and was very responsive. Not long after being an opening DJ for DJ Storm, DJ D.L.O and DJ Storm became partners and would DJ at many different venues such as Club Quest, Club Visionz, Nocturnal, and Secrets. The clubs mentioned were all located in Staten Island New York. DJ D.L.O began to branch out more and started djaying at well known venues in NYC such as Club Ivy, Downtime, Secret lounge, T.O.N.Y, and Cheetah night club. In his recent years, he has worked with DJ's such as Funk Flex, Mister Cee, DJ Enuff, DJ Camilo, and Red Alert. Enrique also known as DJ D.L.O would like to give special thanks to these legendary disc jockeys; Dj Red Alert, Chuck Chillout, Kid Capri, Mr Magic, and Grandmaster Flash for inspiring him to be the great DJ he is today!
