Back by popular demand, Jazz Standard is thrilled to welcome Gil Gutiérrez back to our stage. Born in Oaxaca, Mexico in 1962, the guitarist and composer has established an avid following throughout Latin America and Spain with his classically–trained mastery of jazz, flamenco, and son cubano. He’s collaborated with such superstar vocalists as Anra Gabriel and Francisco Céspedes, and (beginning in 2007) performed more than 60 concerts as part of the San Miguel Five, a group led by famed trumpeter Doc Severinsen. To­night, Gil Gutiérrez will join forces with two equally gifted colleagues, violinist Robert Stern and bassist David Rodriguez, for two sets of high–level improvising.
