Description
George Porter Jr., born in New Orleans, Louisiana, is a legendary bassist, songwriter, and singer renowned for his role in shaping the sound of funk music. As a founding member of The Meters, Porter helped pioneer the genre with hits like "Cissy Strut" and "Look-Ka Py Py." His signature grooves and deeply syncopated bass lines became the foundation of funk, influencing countless musicians across genres. The Meters served as backing musicians for artists such as Dr. John, Lee Dorsey, and Allen Toussaint, further solidifying their place in the fabric of New Orleans music.
Beyond his work with The Meters, Porter has collaborated with a dazzling array of artists, showcasing his versatility. He has performed and recorded with icons like Paul McCartney, Jimmy Buffett, Trey Anastasio of Phish, and Warren Haynes of Gov’t Mule. His projects, including his band George Porter Jr. & Runnin’ Pardners, have kept him at the forefront of funk and soul music. A beloved figure in New Orleans and beyond, George Porter Jr. remains a celebrated ambassador of the city's rich musical heritage.

Bar Room is Open 5pm - Midnight for all, with or without tickets.
Kind Reminder: Snug Harbor does NOT serve the full menu inside the Music Room. We do offer cheese and charcuterie tray options. In order to preserve the integrity, quiet and focus of our world class intimate concerts, only the charcuterie, cocktails and soft drinks are available for table service inside the Music Room. However, we encourage you to arrive at least 90 Minutes prior to your showtime in order to enjoy full, relaxing dinner service in the Dining Room right next door, before getting seated in the Music Room for your ticketed showtime.
Due to the limited seating capacity of our historic, intimate venue, advance tickets for this acclaimed show are strongly suggested! This show WILL sell-out.

Refund Policy
ALL CONCERT TICKET SALES ARE FINAL AND NON-REFUNDABLE. However, we do offer ticket transfers from one name to another, provided you email us your e-ticket confirmation and the name(s) you would like your ticket(s) transferred to via shows@snugjazz.com before 5pm on day of show, or sooner. You can also choose to gift your ticket(s) to our New Orleans Music Student Program where un-claimed tickets are offered to young music students and/or rising musician apprentices, if you cannot use your ticket(s). We can also transfer tickets from one show TIME to another on the SAME DATE ONLY, *provided space is available* at the time of your request. You must email shows@snugjazz.com before 5pm on day of show with your request. Tickets are NOT transferrable to a different artist/date.
