Randy & The Mormons were born in 2019 when lead singer Sam Rochford was asked to participate in Whiskey Jam’s “Sam Jam” a night with only performers named Sam. She’d never played with a full band before so asked members John Paul and Jordan Williams from her Dungeons & Dragons group and Huxley Rittman her coworker at an unnamed Nashville restaurant (no free press) to play with her. It was as if Avril Lavigne (before she was replaced by a clone) and Fountains of Wayne had a baby on stage and that baby knew how to rock.Since their inception, Randy & The Mormons have garnered a cult following, captivating audiences with their energetic performances, sexy dance moves, and devastating lyrics. They have elaborate inside jokes with their audience such as being a Jimmy Buffett cover band that doesn’t cover his music, being the tallest band in Nashville, and being Mormon. Lead singer Sam Rochford once hosted a house show where so many people came the joists in her floor boards broke. If you’re her old landlord, legally, this is a joke.

Alex grew up on a farm in central Ohio. At 10 years old, she wanted to play guitar (like her dad) and started taking lessons. At 18 years old, she wanted to be an engineer (also like her dad). She started a CS degree at Virginia Tech, where she also played college softball. She finished her degree at Ohio State and moved to Nashville at the end of 2018 to pursue writing for country radio. Alex had her “oh shit, I’m an artist” moment at the end of 2023 and started releasing music. She is currently recording her first full length project, a 10-song LP, set for release later this year. Over her 6 years in Nashville, Alex has made some good friends, held a 5 year IT career in cybersecurity, written a handful of good songs, had her heart broken, played a lot of fucking writers’ rounds, pressed some records at Physical Music Products, and completed a 200 hour yoga teacher training in India. She is semi-chronically offline. You can find her on Spotify, Apple Music, etc etc, sporadically @alexbarnesyall and irl likely around East Nashville.
