    The Tales

    Pop Rock

The Tales are a New York-based pop/rock quartet. With past and present members from other notable bands such as Lucius, Turkuaz and Hollis Brown, the band explores an eclectic, yet classic sounding style reminiscent of the classic pop and rock of the 60's and 70's.

The Tales' music is comprised of short but very sweet songs, with catchy melodies, and lush vocal harmonies. With three principal singer/songwriters in the band, there is limitless attention paid to the craft of composition and writing, but not without it's fair share of groove and fun rhythm thrown into the mix.

The band's live show is varied, exploring bigger rock sounds as well as more mellow, sentimental moments.  The Tales have performed at notable venues in New York City and around the Northeast. With how busy each member keeps themselves with various projects, both in the studio and on the road, the highly anticipated and tragically rare live show is surely not to be missed.

Nikhil P. Yerawadekar & Low Mentality

    Rock & Roll

Known for his work in groups like Antibalas, The Sway Machinery, Bright Moments and Akoya Afrobeat, multi-instrumentalist and producer Nikhil P. Yerawadekar* founded the band Low Mentality in 2011. The group brings a new bass- and beat-oriented rock and roll sound to the table, merging qualities of Afrobeat, reggae, dancehall, calypso, hip-hop and folk music. Nikhil's vision for Low Mentality is more a reflection of his upbringing in the melting pot of Queens, NY than that of any particular musical niche. The aim is to have the science, the id and the appreciation all there together at the party without worrying about what is what.

The group’s dance video for “Run Fast” premiered on Okayafrica in 2013, and the song was featured on NPR's Afropop Worldwide radio program as well as on the ParisDJs compilation Have You Ever Been To Electric Afroland? While working on an exciting collaboration with the legendary Ethiopian keyboardist, accordionist and bandleader Hailu Mergia under the auspices of the famed Awesome Tapes From Africa blog and record label, the group recently released their debut vinyl single “Reel It In” on 3rd Generation Recordings. The tune has made its mark on radio throughout the US, getting featured on the likes of WFMU, PRI and KEXP, where it was named Song Of The Day. Nikhil and Low Mentality are currently working on a full length album, which is set to be released by the end of 2015.

    Rachael Cardiello

    Rock & Roll

Born in tornado alley, raised between mountains in Montana, and now residing in Toronto where she leads a six-piece soul band, Rachael Cardiello sings of cross-border living, mental institutions, love, ghosts, and an eclectic history of homes in an alternative version of the American dream.

With the release of her first full length album, Warm Electric Winter, Cardiello breaks away from her classical and folk roots and dives into a bold, neon landscape heavily influenced by motown and soul. Equal parts intimate and fierce, Rachael leads her heavy-weight jazz-trained band with a viola in hand and swing in her style. With two tours through the USA and Canada under their belts, including folk festivals in BC and Manitoba, rooftops in New York, dirty Montana bars, San Francisco’s Hotel Utah, Vancouver’s Railway Club and Toronto venues such as the Rivoli, Cameron House, Piston and Dakota Tavern, Cardiello and her Warm Electric Winter band have been turning heads and jiving up dance floors.

"Cardiello's show exceeded our expectations in every way.
The band was tight, the energy was electric, and they brought a driving dance party to the mainstage."
-Adam Iredale-Gray, Artistic Director, Campbell Bay Music Fest

Rachael has toured, collaborated and recorded extensively in both Canada and the USA with a variety of artists. Cardiello most recently toured as a backup singer for The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer (www.harpoonistaxemurderer.com) and as an organist for Miss Quincy and the Showdown (http://missquincy.ca/) in a three week tour from Vancouver to Winnipeg. For two summers, Cardiello toured as Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra’s “Minigun” and collaborated with them on a sold out, multi-media folk-rock opera called There Once Was a Girl. Other collaborations include Gabrielle Papillon, David Newberry, Jenny Berkel, Sarah Jane Scouten, Blue Sky Miners, Anna Atkinson, and Humble Wonder Theatre. Recording credits include Chloe Charles, James Burrows, and Georgia Straight. Music from her 2011 EP One for the Wind was featured in a short film called The Things I Want to Tell You which debuted in New York on September 30th, 2012.
