GAD ELMALEH is known as the "Jerry Seinfeld of France" and he made his U.S. stand-up debut on CONAN earlier this year. Born in Casablanca, Morocco, he’s arguably the biggest and most loved comedic star in France.

 

         

 

In 2006, he was awarded the “Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres” by France’s Minister of Culture and was voted “The Funniest Person in France.” Shortly thereafter, he followed up with his fifth one man show “Papa est en Haut” which premiered at the prestigious Just for Laughs Comedy Festival in Montreal as well as to sold out audiences in Miami, Los Angeles and The Beacon Theater in New York City.  In December of 2007, Gad made history when he sold out the prestigious L’Olympia (Paris’ Carnegie Hall) in Paris for seven consecutive weeks, a task never before achieved. Immediately after his stint at the Olympia, Gad performed for another seven sold out weeks at Le Palais des Sports – a 3,800 seat venue.

He hosted 3 times the “ceremonie des Cesar” (French Oscars) in 2004, 2005 and 2010.

In 2008, Gad directed his first film, COCO, which he wrote and starred in. It opened #1 to audiences in France, Belgium and Switzerland. Other feature film credits include the French films “Priceless” opposite Audrey Tautou, “The Valet” and the Holocaust drama “The Roundup” opposite Jean Reno and Melanie Laurent.  

Most recently, Gad starred in the Academy Award winning Woody Allen film “Midnight in Paris,” as well as the Steven Spielberg and Peter Jackson film “The Adventures of Tintin: Secret of the Unicorn.”

He had the lead role in the Costa Gavras feature, “Le Capital” opposite Gabriel Byrne, the much anticipated French comedy “Les Seigneurs,” the romantic comedy “Le Bonheur n’arrive jamais seul” opposite Sophie Marceau (they were all released in 2012) as well as a lead role in Michel Gondry’s next feature “Mood Indingo,” which will be released in 2013.

He performed in NYC for 10 shows at the City Winery and 4 shows in LA at the Largo in November 2012.

The new tour called Sans Tambour starts in February 2013. He sold out the Marigny Theater in Paris for 30 dates in 3 days and add 4 weeks also sold out in the Olympia in April 2014.  This tour is suppose to stay at the Palais des Sports de Paris in Nov/Dec 2014 for 4 weeks.

His new project “All in English” started in September 2015 sold out 10 nights at the Joe’s Pub and 16 other cities through the US, he will be on stage in the US with this show now called “Oh My Gad”.

    Gad Elmaleh is one of the biggest and most recognizable comedic talents in the world, with a number of exciting projects in the works. Gad is currently working on a new English-speaking comedy special and recently joined Jerry Seinfeld in a highly anticipated performance at this year’s famed Just For Laughs Festival in Montreal.

    On stage, Gad continues to cement himself as one of the most widely known and beloved standup comedians working today. In January 2017, he released his latest comedy special Gad Gone Wild. The Netflix Original showcased Gad’s impressive multi-lingual ability, as the material was performed in a mix of English and French.

    Since his move to the United States, Gad has quickly grown from being France’s most popular standup comedian to becoming a global comedy sensation. In 2015, he completed a residency at Joe’s Pub in New York City, which saw him performing to sold-out crowds for more than fifty nights. The impressive run led to a multi-city major comedy tour across the United States, culminating in a sold-out show at the world-famous Carnegie Hall in February 2017.

    Overseas, Gad made history by selling out the prestigious Olympia theater hall in Paris for seven consecutive weeks, a feat that had never before been accomplished. He followed the sold-out run with another seven sold-out weeks of shows at the Palais des Sports, a 3,800-seat venue also in Paris.

    In the film world, Gad starred as “Ben Salaad” in the Steven Spielberg-directed film The Adventures of Tintin and could be seen opposite Owen Wilson and Rachel McAdams in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris. His additional film work includes Pattaya, The Midnight Orchestra, Capital, Les Seigneurs, Happiness Never Comes Alone, Jack and Jill, La Rafle, Coco, and more. Gad has also made memorable appearances on a number of American television programs including Conan, The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Daily Show, Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee, and more.

    Gad was born in Casablanca, Morocco and speaks four languages: Arabic, French, English, and Hebrew. He currently splits his time between New York and Los Angeles.
