Friends Friends and Pool Boys with Easy Bruiser
-
Friends Friends surprises with a charming & uplifting sound; a band that sounds like the end of daylight savings time or flowers blooming in a basement. Inspired by artists such as Dr. Dog, Courtney Barnett, and The Beths, Friends Friends indulges in the comfortable aura of a joy-filled performance that sways from delicately layered tracks with five-part harmonies into grittier psych and noisy rock n roll.

A reductionist view of Pool Boys’ music could claim four words: Loud guitars; pretty harmonies. Songwriters Emma Browne, Caroline Jackson, and Annie Dillon weave their varied pedigrees together to form a unique sound in Portland music. Pool Boys thrive in dualities - they live in the space where soft and sensitive gives way to grit and ire. Browne’s melodic guitar hooks and oft-spacey, oft-grungy textures are thoroughly supported by Jackson’s driving bass lines and lush layers of vocal harmonies. The four piece feels equally at home with dreamy art-pop outfits or with heavier punk bands.
After the three founding members were joined by Monica Metzler on drums in 2020, Pool Boys spent the following years intimately learning each other’s creative voices and honing their collective craft, culminating in their first full-length LP, Patterns.

What started as a three member cover(s) band, styling themselves Free Candy, at an auspicious outdoor Halloween show in 2020, eventually bloomed into the powerful quartet you know and love today.
Making real fun tunes in Portland, OR since the Spring of 2021, Abby, Nat, Mel, and Frankie are on the brink of releasing Easy Bruiser’s debut album: EZ BRZR.
As genre agnostic as any band you’ve ever heard, Easy Bruiser is as much a band as it is a lifestyle.
