SOM's third full-length, Let The Light In, is out now via Berlin label Pelagic Records. With a unique sound dubbed “Doom Pop” by Metal Injection, SOM’s dreamy shoegaze roots are on display across Let The Light In but there is heft at its core that is bracing and ferocious. If the band’s debut album The Fall explored hitting rock bottom and sophomore release The Shape of Everything grappled with the ever-darkening world around us, Let The Light In sees SOM turn their sights inward, towards our most primal impulses; seeking solace and reconciliation from the vibrancy within ourselves and the people we hold close.
Since 2019, SOM have toured extensively across North America, Europe and the UK alongside acts including Katatonia, Sólstafir, Slow Crush, Holy Fawn and many more. This relentless live commitment across 21 countries, coupled with 2023’s introspective restructuring, has profoundly altered their creative approach.
As they began working on this new material, the members of SOM found themselves in a fresh headspace, armed with a newfound, hard-earned maturity. Let The Light In is SOM's testament to resilience and evolution. Born from challenge and change, the album pulses with confidence and catharsis, imploring the listener and the band themselves to traverse the darkness and find the light.

Bronco Forte

Heavy riffs from the banks of a concrete river.
"Bronco Forte is a Los Angeles desert rock / grunge band specializing in heavy riffs, hypnotic rhythms, and melodic hooks. Their doom-laden-guitar-rock approach is influenced by bands like QOTSA, Black Sabbath, Soundgarden and Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats. The band members are seasoned veterans of various rock and doom scenes across the nation, and met up with the aim of delivering stripped-down songs based around unstoppable riffs, delivering cryptic tales of psychedelic dystopia with a sonic mix of sweetness and brutality to satisfy the casual and the discerning listener alike. The name can be interpreted to mean “loud horse” or “strong horse” and points to a connection to the primal beast within, untamed by the shackles of a disintegrating society. Bronco Forte released their self-titled debut mini-album in early 2023, and is currently working on the songs for their next release and booking performances around the southwestern United States."

Mercury Transfer is the recording project of Ryan Smith, former drummer for the California post-hardcore/emo trio Foreseers. Exploring varying sonic avenues such as shoegaze, ambient, post-rock and noise rock, Mercury Transfer emerged as quarantine recording project in 2021 with their first release, In This Heat, We Grow Weary. Then, in March of 2022, Mercury Transfer released their second LP, Martha, incorporating interview segments Ryan conducted with his paternal grandmother, crafting songs around clips of her voice intermingled with his own. His most recent release is Where Light Never Goes, a collaborative EP with vocalist Nick Chism, combining the ambient shoegaze sounds of Mercury with Nick's brutal screaming vocals. Last Day Deaf called WLNG's first single, Bones, "... a hymn of desolation" and "a hollow, unholy descent into a chasm of thoughts and emotions."
