Frands
Music
Frands is an absurdist, funk-punk trio from North-Brooklyn. With a sound recalling The Talking Heads, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Cake, and Iggy Pop, Frands exists to bring humorous, high-octane, nonsensical live sets to North Brooklyn. Jack Simons’ Claypool-esque funk bass lines lock into James Beer’s Frusciante-inspired rhythm guitar and create a lush, lo-fi backdrop for Aaron Waldman’s disaffected, John McCrea-style spoken word and energetic stage antics. The trio is accompanied by a rotating line-up of drummers including Johan Salomonsson (Tove Lo) and Drew McKeon (Michael Bolton).
Frands formed in June of 2018 when Vocalist Aaron Waldman, Guitarist James Beer, and Bassist Jack Simons couldn’t remember the last time they went a day without hanging out and jamming. The band debuted with a headlining slot at the Knitting Factory, performing an indie-rock set penned largely by Waldman. Avid self-promoters, the group drew well over a hundred friends and fans out to the show, kicking off their career in style.
In the months that followed, the band scrapped the bulk of their setlist and began group writing, producing an eclectic portfolio of hard-funk, rock-rap, and intimate-acoustic material. A live session was recorded at Storefront music, yielding the band’s first YouTube release “Cat Rescue.” The band closed out 2018 on a high note, headlining Elsewhere- Zone 1 in late December.
2019 has the band in the studio and on the road, though not necessarily at the same time.

Music
Cassidy Dawn Graves is a Brooklyn-based musician writing comedic songs on various stringed instruments about the weirdness of sex and bodies, and non-comedic songs mostly about anxiety, oscillating between folk and indie rock sounds. She has been compared to both Liz Phair and Bo Burnham, so take that as you will. Joining her onstage will be bassist Sean McCready, guitarist Jesse Moritz, drummer Vincent Cota, and synth player Andy Waldron (of new wave duo Sailor Boyfriend).
