Two powerhouse vocalists unite for a birthday celebration of the First Lady of Song, Ella Fitzgerald! Joyce Grant and Kellie Fuller backed by The Mike Greensill Trio present an elegant night of Ella's greatest hits and hidden gems, all with their own personality and flair.

Singer/songwriter Joyce Grant, mezzo-soprano with a voice like “dark honey”, has been performing jazz, blues and R& B in the Bay Area for over 30 years. She is the great, great niece of the King of Ragtime Scott Joplin. 

Kellie Fuller is one of those rare vocalists that cannot be locked into a single genre or decade, performing some of the most beloved songs and hidden gems spanning the early 1900’s through the 1970’s.

BLUE NOTE NAPA is on the 1st floor of the historic Napa Valley Opera House and is an intimate 180-seated live music club and restaurant. World-class and local Bay Area artists perform here.     Joyce Grant singer/songwriter, determined at an early age that she was going to be a singer and spent her elementary and high school days performing in choir and musical theater.  She  is the great-great-niece of famed ragtime composer Scott Joplin and has written lyrics to four of his songs. She has participated in the West Coast Ragtime Festival for several years. She was the lead vocalist for City Swing Big Band from 2007 until it disbanded in 2023. She is now the lead vocalist for the Walnut Creek Jazz Band. In 2020 Joyce was featured in Down Beat Magazine.  She has been singing jazz in the Bay Area venues for over 30 years. A mezzo-soprano with a voice like "dark honey", Grant has a performance resume which includes a wide range of venues including The Donatello Hotel in San Francisco, Sam's Chowder House in Half Moon Bay, Nick's in Pacifica, the Sticky Rice in Fairfield, Carneros in Napa, Slates in Walnut Creek, Joe’s of Lafayette, and the Woodminster Amphitheater just to name a few. Born in Texarkana, the town where Scott Joplin was raised, Grant moved to Oakland as a child where she started singing with the North Oakland Baptist Church Youth Choir. Since that time she has earned the respect of singers and musicians alike performing professionally in San Francisco, the East Bay, Walnut Creek, Napa Valley and beyond. Her unique shows consist of a blend of jazz, blues, country western, Rhythm and Blues, and funk. Her vocal interpretations range from sensitive to powerful over a broad spectrum of charts. Joyce Grant is a member of ASCAP.

    After graduating in 1972 from Leeds College of Music in England, Mike toured Europe and the Far East and lived in Hong Kong for 4 years before finally settling into his adopted home, San Francisco, in 1977.
     Well known in his role as musical director to acclaimed vocalist Wesla Whitfield with whom he has recorded twenty albums, Mike is also resident piano player on Sedge Thomson's weekly Public Radio show to the world, "West Coast Live" - more info at wcl.org. As an arranger Mike, in addition to his work with Wesla, has had the opportunity to write for big bands and symphony orchestras including the Boston Pops and the San Francisco Symphony.
    Mike has also had the pleasure of accompanying such diverse talents as Rita Moreno, Margaret Whiting, Broadway stars Lillias White and Franc D'Ambrosio and jazz singers Madeline Eastman, Ann Hampton Callaway and Opie Bellas.

    Ruth has performed with such jazz and blues greats as Keb' Mo', Charles Brown, Clark Terry, John Lee Hooker, Bonnie Raitt, Jay McShann, Van Morrison, Maria Muldaur, Junior Mance, Barbara Morrison, Etta Jones, Terry Gibbs, Jimmy Witherspoon, and Little Jimmy Scott.

    Her discography (including several Platinum and Grammy-winning CDs) covers various jazz and blues styles as well as movie soundtracks. She has recorded with Charles Brown, Bonnie Raitt, John Lee Hooker, Van Morrison, Clark Terry, Vassar Clements, Toots Thielemans, Ernie Watts, Elvin Bishop, Maria Muldaur, Jackie Ryan, and Ramblin' Jack Elliott, among others.

    She toured the world for ten years with the late Charles Brown, performing at major jazz festivals and concerts and on radio and television broadcasts worldwide. Ruth continues to spend considerable time abroad. She has recorded and performed internationally with Maria Muldaur, Denise Jannah, Dmitri Matheny and European pianist/composer Amina Figarova. Lately she has "returned to the roots" and travels with Elvin Bishop's band.

    Ruth believes in teaching and in bringing music to the public schools. She has been on the faculty at the Stanford Jazz Workshop for 17 years and has had a very successful "Ruth Davies Blues Night" series at the Stanford Jazz Festival. The San Francisco Symphony’s "Adventures in Music" program and the "Just Say Jazz" project deliver music education to the classroom. By any conservative estimate, Ruth has presented music programs to over two thousand school groups. That's a serious commitment.

    Jack Dorsey, drummer, is a native New Yorker who arrived on the San Francisco music scene in 1968.

    He has performed and recorded internationally with such diverse artists as; Little Anthony, Macy Blackman, The Coasters, The Crests, Jose Feliciano, Bobby Freeman, Etta Jones, Ed Kelly, Buddy Miles, The Oakland Jazz Choir, Denise Perrier, Khalil Shaheed, Lavay Smith, and Jimmy Witherspoon.

    Jack has recorded numerous television theme scores, commercials and motion picture soundtracks for 20th Century Fox, Zoetrope, and Skywalker Ranch. He has performed drums & percussion for SF theatre productions including Gary Trudeau’s Rap Master Ronnie.

    He's taught the basics of drums and rhythm throughout the SF School Dist. with the SF Symphony’s Adventures in Music Program, in East Bay schools with Michael Morgan, Conductor of the Oakland East Bay Symphony, and continues to teach and perform with the Oaktown Jazz Workshop.

    Jack has been the Mighty Fines' drummer since the band's inception in 2003.
