For over 40 years, the Solana Beach Chamber of Commerce has proudly hosted the annual summer festival, Fiesta del Sol, growing its attendance to over 50,000 people. This beloved event showcases a variety of merchants, food vendors, and live entertainment, including performances on the renowned Main Stage. Over two days, the best bands in Southern California perform for thousands of attendees and a livestream audience, with many bands submitting to be part of the coveted lineup. As we look ahead to Fiesta del Sol, the Chamber is excited to celebrate "Fiesta del Sol: Battle of the Bands" at the Belly Up! This annual competition offers five local bands the opportunity to compete for a spot on the Main Stage, where the winning band will perform for Fiesta's massive crowd. Founded in San Diego, Em Cable Band blends rock, pop, and blues elements with punk rock energy inspired by artists such as Fleetwood Mac, Wet Leg, King Princess, and Foo Fighters. Signal for Pilot is a San Diego-based Pop Punk band that has been twice nominated for best Alt/Indie band at the San Diego Music Awards. Their newest album, 'Next Level' is the culmination of over a decade of writing and performing, passionately crafting the band's ever-evolving 'Stadium Indie' sound while working tirelessly to take their music to the Next Level! The album was produced by the legendary Joey Bradford ('The Used') at Vibeatorium Studios in Vista, CA, and collectively written and performed by Signal for Pilot, with a special vocal guest appearance by AJ Perdomo of 'The Dangerous Summer'. Their hit single “Midnight Drive” was listed in the top 91 songs of 2022 by radio station 91X. One of the hallmarks of Signal for Pilot is their personality, and there is no lack of it in a live performance. Their energy and dedication is evident every step of the way, from the artwork to the stage set up. High-voltage rock and bubblegum pop collide in the music of Shaynie Rhoads, guitar-slinging headbanger from Oceanside, California. With riffs inspired by 80’s metal and a voice straight out of the teen idol movement of the 00’s, Shaynie gives rise to a unique sound that is unabashedly feminine with a rebellious, rock ‘n’ roll edge. “I was always a bit of a misfit, and not the cool kind,” she tells SD Voyager Magazine. “I was the girl that showed up to class in blue eyeshadow and faux fur platform boots. I drove a crusty old car and worked at Vons so that I could buy band shirts and concert tickets.” As a recording artist, Shaynie releases music under her label, Hotcakes Records. She continues to expand her reach across San Diego and has played at venues like The Roxy, Casbah and Til-Two Club. She is also the proud owner of a small music school in Solana Beach, through which she has created a community where students of all ages can learn and enjoy music together.
