REVERB & SEDUCTION is the legendary Portland band’s most immersive and varied album to date. A tour de force road trip from psych rock to country duets that never strays too far from the spaghetti western roots that inspired the band so many blood moons ago.
“...equal parts Ennio Morricone, Lee Hazelwood, and Nick Cave with a touch of Chris Isaak’s less romantic side… few if any artists are brave and/or creative enough to channel this ghostly, often ominous vibe into moving, sensual and stirring music.”
HAL HOROWITZ, American Songwriter

Society of the Silver Cross, a Seattle-based band, embarks on a sonic odyssey with their new album 'Festival of Invocations'. Songwriters Joe Reineke (The Meices, Alien Crime Syndicate) and Karyn Gold-Reineke lead listeners through otherworldly realms, delving into themes of life and death, beauty and darkness and transcending the veil between worlds. Their music draws listeners into a trance-like state of introspection and exploration, as embodied in this powerful new release.
Their unique songwriting style blends lush organic instrumentation with immersive soundscapes, bombastic rhythms and chant-like vocals, drawing inspiration from the textures and tones of India. The core instruments include 12-string acoustic guitar, harmonium, Hammond B3 organ, shahi baaja (Indian autoharp), rare and esoteric synthesizers and drums. The result is a spellbinding blend of hypnotic melodies, dark undertones and twisted Americana. Critics have described their sound as haunting, gothic graceland, funeral home rock, and even "yogic metal." With a captivating fusion of Eastern mysticism and Western allure, their music conjures a realm where shadows dance with light and harmonic reveries serenade the soul.
Five years in the making - 'Festival of Invocations.' is the highly anticipated follow up to Society of the Silver Cross’s critically-acclaimed inaugural album, '1 Verse' (2019) decidedly praised as "One of the year's most unique and compelling debuts”. Written during Covid, Joe and Karyn found hope and inspiration through music - painting colorful sounds across what otherwise felt like a bleak landscape. 'Festival of Invocations' weaves a mesmerizing tapestry adorned with witchy undertones, showcasing compositions that evoke a haunting urgency reminiscent of the pages of The Book Of The Dead - imbued with a magnetism as captivating as it is eerie.
During Covid, Joe and Karyn personally designed and built Temple of the Trees, a truly unique recording studio resembling a gothic cathedral from another dimension and named spookiest studio in the world by American Songwriter. Here, they meticulously produced and recorded ‘Festival of Invocations’, sonically crafting each song within the sacred space they custom-made for this album and their future releases.
Society of the Silver Cross offers a revitalizing perspective on contemporary Gothic music, infusing the genre with mystery, romance and spiritualism. Their music resonates with listeners on a deep and profound level, transcending earthly bounds and leaving an indelible mark on the modern music scene.

Low Hums are a musical collective founded and fronted by Jonas Haskins and a cast of many talented friends. Currently performing as a power trio and hailing from Seattle, Low Hums play garage rock and roll with a third eye from the psychedelic perspective. The music is organic, and “west coast” in flavor, expanding on typical up and down rhythms that most run-of-the-mill garage bands stick to but also side to side. 'Psychedelic, swagger and glam!’ is how Paste Magazine described it.
The fifth full-length LP by Seattle’s cinematic garage slackers has a hint of the concept album about it – space travel, both outwards and into the recesses of one’s own mind, is a recurring theme, as is the sun-baked space of deserts. Though this is a record that’s as much about moving your body as it is about exploring the cosmos. ‘Three Stones In The Night’ brings out the band’s rock swagger, whereas ‘Ghost Babe’ channels a garage-punk spirit, with twin guitars weaving against a backdrop of reedy ’60s organ stabs. ‘Tunnel Of Light’ is a cosmic-country number inspired by a Psilocybin trip the band took at a festival. For all these stylistic shifts, the locked-in grooves, storytelling and continuity of sound add up to an enticing listening experience. Edgy, and with a touch of something dark and dangerous, Zzyzx draws you in like a seedy nightclub. There's some serious voodoo going on.
