Eric Bellinger's journey has been a remarkable evolution from the streets of Compton to becoming an international sensation, marked by his Grammy-winning artistry and prolific songwriting skills. Hailing from a musical lineage as the grandson of Bobby Day, a hit songwriter for the Jackson 5, Eric faced the pivotal decision of pursuing a career in athletics or following his musical instincts. He chose to listen to his heart and committed to his art, touching the world with not only his powerful voice but also his adept songwriting skills.
One of the first pinnacle moments in Bellinger’s career came with his Grammy Award-winning contributions to Chris Brown's album F.A.M.E., solidifying his reputation as a sought-after songwriter. Collaborations with industry giants like Usher, Justin Bieber, and Brandy further established his prowess. Opting for
independence, Eric co-founded the YFS (Your Favorite Song) label, challenging the constraints of major labels and achieving success with their EMPIRE distributed indie team. YFS’s 2016 campaign album Eric B. For President produced gold singles "Drive By" and "GOAT."
In addition to his Grammy and Billboard success, Eric Bellinger's discography boasts a series of mixtapes, including "Born II Sing Vol. 1, Born II Sing Vol. 2, and Born II Sing Vol. 3 in 2013. His debut studio album, The Rebirth, released as a double album in 2014, peaked at 23 on the US R&B/Hip Hop charts and 15 on the US R&B chart. Following The Rebirth, Eric released studio albums Cuffing Season and Cuffing Season, Part 2, which peaked at 6 and 23 on the US R&B chart, respectively. Mixtapes like Choose Up Season and Eventually in 2016 featured notable tracks like "Valet" featuring Fetty Wap and 2 Chainz. Between 2016 and 2017, Eric released three extended plays as part of the Eric B. for President series. Notably, the series featured the gold-certified singles "G.O.A.T." and "Drive By." Further expanding his discography, Eric dropped the album Eazy Call in 2018 and a 5-track EP, Meditation Music, inspired by yoga and meditation. The EP reflected a transformative period in Eric's life and was released during his Eazy Call Tour. In 2021, Eric Bellinger released New Light, earning his first Grammy nomination for Best Progressive R&B Album. This album not only showcased his continued evolution and commitment to pushing creative boundaries but also set the stage for his remarkable achievements in the following years. In May 2022, Eric announced a publishing deal with Roc Nation, cementing his status as a force in the music industry.
The momentum continued into 2023 when he dominated the airwaves and Billboard charts with his hit "Curious," a flip of D’Angelo’s “Lady,” featuring Cordae and Fabolous. The single surpassed a million views on YouTube, reached #1 on Rhythmic Radio, and climbed to #33 on the Top 40, solidifying Eric Bellinger's position as a powerful bridge between talents in the industry and a true hit-maker. His musical brilliance, as highlighted in "Curious," showcases his ability to break down and innovate on classic beats, receiving praise from D’Angelo himself. Another 2023 break-the-internet moment came when Bellinger’s freestyle about marriage on the Cosmic Kev show went viral and became a hit recording, followed by an epic collaboration with Lil’ Kim and Lola Brooke on the “Curious” remix. As Eric is gearing up to release his next album, he wanted to do something different for the promotional run this time around. With his upcoming single “Cry In Front Of You” set to release, he thought it was important for fans to see a more raw, stripped down, acoustic style performance to highlight his vocal ability ahead of his new music. Eric plans to slow it down & open up to the people. An unplugged feel. Showing a more vulnerable side, letting the world deeper into his thoughts. The City Winery Tour will be the perfect setting to display just that.
Beyond his personal success, Eric's wisdom extends to the establishment of his artist development firm and record label, All Wins, where he nurtures emerging talents like Dom Belli, Steven G, and Hylan Starr. His dedication to being of service to the next generation underscores his maturity and insight, setting him apart in the R&B game. With a career spanning over a decade, Eric Bellinger's influence in the genre is evident not just in his introspective lyrics and buttery vocals but also in his strategic business moves and authentic public persona. His approach to recording "Curious," as part of his album 1(800) HIT-EAZY: LINE 2, exemplifies his intuitive understanding of when to contribute more of his unique perspective, solidifying his enduring impact on the current R&B scene.
