Ehiorobo (Ehi Igiehon) is an alternative r&b singer-songwriter, musician & producer from NYC by way of New Jersey, releasing music under his Nigerian (Igbo) born-name - commonly mistaken as a moniker nodding towards his electronic sensibilities. Often acknowledged for his unconventional vocal style blending expressive crooning with poetic asides, as well as his eclectic range of stylistic output (alt. r&b, indie-pop, indie-rock, electronic, hip hop, and more), he’s become well-known for being a chameleon within the space of indie music wielding a discography that has amassed upwards of 50,000,000 streams across platforms. With a plethora of touring experiences under his belt, Ehiorobo has been brought along various North American tours as a supporting act for electronic & indie-pop artists such as Mothica, Robotaki, Flamingosis, and Blockhead, often finding himself in the position to present his alternative r&b styles and electronic music to rooms that are poised to dance. Stepping into the internet’s independent electronic music scene via Soundcloud mid-way through the 2010’s with collaborations alongside artists from different spaces including Flamingosis, Bickle, Omniboi, MEMBA, SMLE, Deffie, Icarus Moth, Seiho, Mark Redito, Maxo and many more, Ehiorobo has been consistently releasing music since first putting forth an intimate collection of songs on his debut LP, ‘Limeade’ (2016 via DESKPOP).
In 2021, Ehiorobo made a triumphant return with three new standalone singles, and an ambitious sophomore LP titled, ‘Joltjacket’ via Grind Select / Fat Possum Records. Notably dubbed Bandcamp’s ‘Album of the Day’ shortly after the LP’s release, journalist Ann-Derrick Gaillot’s review states, “Ehiorobo’s twist on R&B is sweetly disarming (...) using sounds from countless musical influences, from dissonant noise punk to honeyed soul and pop, each track offers an exuberant reflection on the emotional and sensory overloads experienced in life.”
In spring of 2023, Ehiorobo released his long-in-the-works collaborative LP with sample-based hip hop producer Flamingosis titled ‘Bliss Station’. With 12 tracks that blend together a range of genres such as sample-based hip hop, r&b, house music, and more, each track serves as a testament towards one’s journey to emotional maturity including stories of new found love and heartbreak, dealing with isolation/loneliness, and finding the courage to maneuver through a variety of inner hardships. Written, produced, and engineered entirely by Flamingosis and Ehiorobo alongside additional instrumentation and production from Thievery Corporation’s Jeff Franca (drummer), the collaborative ‘Bliss Station’ album is his latest full-length offering.
After taking on some auxiliary creative projects - most recently including original music composition and background vocal work for Lupita Nyong’o and KQED Snap Judgements’ ‘Mind Your Own’ podcast and editorial features on Vogue and Galore Magazine, Ehiorobo’s newest focused and canonical artistic output involves a four-track EP, ‘Mutamelior’ alongside Brooklyn-based producer Icarus Moth released during the autumn of 2024 via Boston-based independent label Every Dejavu. Alongside a fall 2024 northeast USA tour, the EP also has an exclusive physical cassette release featuring bonus remixes from NYC-based Ninja Tune alumni hip-hop/electronic producer Blockhead, and Tokyo-based Japanese city-pop/funk/electronic duo Milk Talk. Early 2025 saw Ehiorobo’s first official Netflix sync as new arctic dramedy ‘North of North’ used “Autobahn” (taken from the ‘Bliss Station’ album).
